They have funny names for the drinks like "Hooker" and "Sugar Daddy" which they can make sugar free or dairy free. They also had amazing gluten free chocolate muffins. Great service and a very quaint little area of town

Respite has great coffee, good baked goods, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. It is always one of our first stops in Douglas.

After walking from Saugatuck to Douglas, we were tired, thirsty and in need of-- What?? RESPITE!! And we found it accidentally in the midst of town. There were turning points. I asked if the barrista would make a breve, a latte made with 1/2 & 1/2 rather than milk. Certainly-- and she frothed it in the mug. Never have I had that done.. And it was wonderful.. My wife took the de-caf from a pump pot before seeing that it was flavored, something neither of us prefers.. But it was very, very good.. bananas foster. The barista explained that the roaster added the flavors to the heat of roasting rather than as a syrup or flavoring. It was very good. We looked at the very tempting baked goods and my wife suggested getting a biscotti, a cherry-pistachio-chocolate chip made-in-house.. Unique, satisfying and difficult to keep on-hand according to the barrista. We enjoyed that a great deal.. It was also satisfying that the barrista wanted feed-back, was interested in our reactions and our experiences and was very proud of the product and the place. It is a small venue and we were disappointed two days later when we returned and the biscotti were sold out and there was no seating in- or out-doors.
The breve presented here is among the top three(3) I've had anywhere. The product in the pump-pots was unique and worth trying. The staff we met was top-notch. The space was delightful. I am glad we were there..
