“Perfect place to sleep before early morning flights”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

I have stayed here twice before catching early morning flights. If you don't mind paying the extra money, this hotel is great. The rooms are large, upscale, and clean. The hotel itself is open and interesting - the lobby is a great place to grab a drink and hang out. From the rooms, there are cool views of the airport, airplanes, and runways. Of course, you can't beat the location if you're flying Delta, as the hotel is attached to the Delta terminal.

Stayed with the family overnight at this fancier than expected airport hotel. The atrium lobby was lovely and the hotel has it's own check-in/security checkpoint for the Delta terminal. Since we were flying another airline at the other terminal (shame they aren't connected by anything better than a bus) we did not get to enjoy this privilege. Our room was large with a terrific view of about 15 planes lined up and sleeping for the night. Our children were thrilled with the airplanes just outside the window. We had a rollaway bed that was quite luxurious for our 4 year old son and he loved it - thought it looked like a racecar. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with the bed, check-in and letting us know about the bus service to the other terminal. We did visit the pool, which is small, but expected for a business hotel, which is who this hotel really is catering to. I would love to return just so the children could lay in bed and watch a plane get loaded and backed up from the terminal.

Room Tip: rooms on the south side will have a view of the Delta gates.

I'm so pleased that you and your family enjoyed your time as our guests. The view is a lot of fun (especially for children) and I'm hoping they'll be able to see planes departing next time. Thank you again for your commentary and we hope to see you soon.

We had a 6:20 am Delta flight, so staying at this hotel was really convenient. It's a simple and short walk from hotel lobby to Delta check-in. Our car stayed at the valet parking until our return. That was very convenient as well. We needed a larger space due to having an extra person. Again, no problem as the hotel had a suite available. Had a terrificThanksgiving dinner in the restaurant by the water. The suite as excellent...clean, quiet...just what we needed.

If you arrive late at night or have to catch an early flight, this is a good hotel to stay. I arrived at close to 1 am, and checked into a room on the second floor. The following experience was not something you would expect from a over $200 room: the bathroom sink plug did not work, so I had to pull the whole thing out to drain water, and then I found out the mattress cover sheet on the king-size bed was one size smaller and it's even upside down. I was so sleepy but I still had to remove everything on the bed to remake the bed and tried to make the sheet as smooth as possible at least on my side of the bed. I felt ridiculous at the time. I feel the management for this hotel is quite content with their steady flow of travelers and does not care about the quality of their service.

Great location and top notch property. So convenient to the Delta terminal, and a real blessing when you roll off an 8 hour trans-Atlantic flight. The property was quiet and reasonably luxurious. Personal opinion was that the price was reasonable for the convenience. I heard no noise, and was amazed walking into the terminal that was absolutely packed (I should have realized it would be on the Sunday after Thanksgiving!). Room service was fine- not exceptional food, but perfectly acceptable. One downside was that my room was located as far away as you could possibly get from the elevator, and dragging heavy luggage along yards and yards of carpet is no fun after a long flight. It is one of the few hotels I've stayed at this year that still charge for Internet access. But the location, luxury and feeling of a tranquil oasis in the middle of an airport was worth it.
All in all a very pleasant night that I would repeat without hesitation.

Room Tip: The hotel is more or less square with one elevator in the center of one side. If you get a room opp...

Without a doubt if you travel in and out of Detroit Metro or have business in the area this hotel is a great choice.

From the friendly and courteous staff to the cool interior décor you will find it hard to believe you are staying at an airport. The convenience and services cannot be beat for travel to or from Detroit Metro. These is easy access to the Delta terminal with TSA Security located just off the lobby area.

Rooms are spacious, comfortable and of course come with “Heavenly Beds”.

If you find the dining options too expensive you can always eat in the airport before you enjoy the comfort and convenience of staying here.

Have stayed here a few times; if you don't want a 4-5 hour connection time or come in from Asia and need a break this is the hotel to stay at in DTW. You can walk to your room (the hotel is inside the airport) so even in cold Michigan weather no need to go outside. This Westin is on the high end but its worth it; rooms clean, comfy, great. THe windows are thick so didn't hear any airplane noise. Very dark but tranquil lobby and restaurant good. I also think a great "sales point" is this Westin has its own entrance inside from the gates as well as its own TSA security checkpoint so you can go straight back to your gate after going through security (however this checkpoint is not open late so it depends on your arrival or departure time)--Staff are all very pleasant--liked the gym as well. Have stayed on the Club level and its comfy too--breakfast and happy hour nice place to just get out of your room and relax a little. Perhaps maybe change the food items a bit for us frequent travelers would be my only recommendation for the Club Room.. Otherwise am very happy with this hotel whenever I am passing through Detroit.
