Decided to continue my progressive dinner down the street.
This is on the corner of Woodward and John R. It’s a narrow bar and restaurant. Lots of bar seats and counter seats and all table with seats are left of the bar.
Saddled up to the bar. It’s a dimly lit bar and restaurant, everyone’s looking good even at 6:30pm.
The bartender recommended the wild mushroom and asparagus lasagna, I also ordered the jerk chicken since that’s what drew me here in the first place. I was going to get the jalapeño cheddar biscuit but after asking if it’s dry was advised it is dry and needs a dip to go with it, although no dip accompanies it. Food will come out as it’s done. The potato pierogi and the caprese also sounded good, but my eyes would definitely be bigger than my stomach and I already had apps down the street.
The jerk chicken is tender and moist and tasty, the best part is by far the pineapple fried rice, that’s delicately sweet and counters the spice and flavor kick from the jerk seasoning in the chicken.
The wild mushroom and asparagus lasagna came out bubbling hot. The lasagna is rich and soft and good, discovered some wild mushrooms, haven’t found an asparagus yet. Found one. It’s a unique blend of veggies for this vegetarian friendly lasagna. The crunchy crust from the truffle crumbs is a great complexity of textures to the softness off the noodles and veggies. The roasted garlic ricotta and the truffle crumbs are the highlight of this dish.
