There is nothing wrong with the hotel. Rooms are clean, breakfast is solid, the spa is fine, the service good and yet I stayed at this hotel a number of times and each time I was less impressed. I have stayed at other places in Detroit and this facility is probably as good as it gets but overall it lacks the usual high standards one is used from a Westin. The lobby area is a mess of stair cases and escalators and it might take someone with a weak sense of orientation longer than it should to find the reception on the 2nd floor.
