“Will stay again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

We stayed for two nights at the Motor City Casino Hotel in mid-February. Our room was free from a casino promotion, so I certainly can't complain about the price. There was a fairly long line at check-in but after they realized it was piling up they brought out some more agents and we moved through fairly quickly. The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The furniture and decor looked a bit worn down. The bathroom was huge and really nice and clean. Our view was of the parking lot which is not ideal, but since it was a free room I didn't ask for anything specific. It was actually kinda fun to people watch out the window. The mattress was very comfortable. Our only real complaint with the room amenities was that the ice bucket was really tiny and not really insulated. Since there is no fridge, it was annoying to have to go get ice way down the long hall every time we wanted a cold drink.

The buffet is really good and has something for everyone. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and the servers were polite and prompt. We didn't try room service but the menu looked good and the prices weren't horrible.

The casino is just ok. We found it to be pretty dirty with lots of drinks and garbage around (more so than other casinos we've been to). We played for several hours at a time, a few times a day, for 3 days in a row, and were not once offered a drink while we were playing. When it is crowded it is really smokey. If you can go play when there are less people it is more enjoyable.

All in all we enjoyed our stay and will return.

We recently stayed at Motor City Casino, our room was comped, after an hour of game play promotion a friend and I did.

When we arrived at the Casino it took us almost a half hour to find parking for the hotel, the casino parking lot is large, but parking for the hotel is located in another part of the parking structure, and is not covered. To get to the building you have to walk from your car to a nearby stairwell, and walk with your luggage to the hotel entrance which is in another part of the structure. This was a real pain as we tried to carry our luggage into the hotel. The door woman who was working the doors, didn't open them for us, instead she pressed the handicapped electronic door opener, and the doors opened into us, without any warning. At this point I was worried that we were going to have a bad stay.

Check-in was effortless, which was nice. We arrived in our hotel room and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Towels were abundant, the climate control worked quickly, and there were nice extras like bath salts, q-tips, and complimentary waters.

My friend had stayed in the hotel the week before and told me that her mini-bar was tampered with by someone who stayed before her, so we decided to check ours out. Someone had ate the Pringles out of the can and resealed it, and did the same with some candy and nuts.

The overall stay in the room was standard, lots of TV channels, okay bed, lots of pillows to choose from. In the morning we were awakened by the maids whose service room was outside our door, they were having a very large conversation and knocking around getting their supplies. The walls in general seem paper thin.

Again, our stay was free, and well worth it, but if I was paying for a room in Detroit, it wouldn't be at this hotel.

Room Tip: Do not stay near the maid service rooms. Make sure your minibar has not been tampered with upon chec...

While the hotel is located just off the interstate, it's not a very nice part of town. I would not suggest going for an evening walk. Parking is very easy and state of the art. Multiple level garage equipped with sensors that show full and open spaces. A quick glance down the row lets you know if spaces are open. Hotel rooms are very nice. Clean, nicely stocked and fairly large. Large bathroom with shower and tub. Wifi, mini bar and safe in the room. Staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Security makes it's presence. As for the casino, it's a casino. Nuff said. Show bar located at the rear of the casino. Just listen, you'll find it. Walking by you think you're at a rock concert. In the first row.... A little more subdued lounge located downstairs.

Room Tip: Hallways are pretty long. Might want to request a room closer to the elevator.

Another great hotel in Detroit. Part of a large casino, it is ina TERRIBLE area of town, so drive safe. But there is a great deal of beauty in this hotel. The staff are very helpfull and security is everywhere to keep you safe. The rooms are as nice as Greektown Hotels, and the bathrooms were even bigger! Great food, and recieved a 40.00 casino voucher which Kelly turned into a 700.00 profit!

My son and i stayed here for a visit to the African American museum. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom is relaxing, and there are lots of food choices. The hotel offers incentives if you play in the casino, such as a free room or a $99 room. There is free valet. would stay here again

All in all, I would stay there again. The room was very nice;complete with well stocked mini-bar. Bed/bedding/pillows were FABULOUS!! Bathroom was well laid out - great soaking tub. Shower has only one tiny shelf for soap, razor etc. and no hooks. Commode is separate (note to Housekeeping - you need to clean the floor in front of the toilet!!!) Towels were clean, white and nice and thick. The staff was friendly. Lots of dining options available - and for the most part all the places we dined at were very good. The casino needs more wait-staff and could learn a bit from Vegas. Parking was easy. Nice proximity to both the airport and to Downtown.

Let me be clear.. Im a " downtown " kinda guy ...

That's the ONLY downside of motor city ..once your there, that's it.. Nothing else to do but stay, or drive over to downtown ..

Clean , fantastic room... Great tub ( shower only @ greektown for example ) , forgettable " bridge " view..

If your going JUST to gamble, you can't go wrong....

If you want a night out , skip MGM and motor city , and go greektown

Room Tip: There's no real view, so just take what they give you...bridge view is supposedly the better vie...
