“Just Another Street Really........”
Review of Woodward Avenue

Woodward Avenue

That is until August of every year, when it comes alive with all manner of vehicles, namely classic's of every make and model.
Go early with a chair and get a good spot to sit and watch the cars go past, they start early around 9am and go on all day till about 9 at night.
We started at the Ferndale end and found the Hagerty trolleys doing laps of the Woodward avenue stretch, trips lasting about an hour and they are free, gives you a different perspective of the event.
Then we drove along Woodward till we got to Pontiac where they turn around and head back down Woodward and looked at a couple of car shows there, park at the St. Damien of Molokai Parish it was only $10 bucks right next to Woodward Ave.
We didn't have a classic car to drive but it was amazing just to watch.

My first visit to see the Dream Cruise. If you're into classic and unique cars, they cruise up and down Woodward Ave from about 8 Mile Rd all the way out to Pontiac some 25 miles. I think I'm hooked and am planning to go back next year.

Woodward Avenue runs through the heart of Detroit and has always been it's most important street, and a wide one it is. A 3 1/2 stretch of Woodward in the city center was repaved to make way for the recently opened QLine light rail, making it easier for locals and visitors to get around.

Woodward Avenue is where you'll find many of the cities most important buildings, cultural attractions, entertainment venues and sports stadiums. The Spirit of Detroit, Guardian Building (an Art Deco jewel), Campus Martius Park with it's summertime beach and winter skating, Detroit Opera House, Fox & Fillmore Theaters, Comerica Park (home of the Tigers), the soon to open Little Caesars Area where the Detroit Red Wings & Pistons will play, Orchestra Hall (home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra), Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, The Detroit Institute of Arts and the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament (the seat of the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit) can all be found along Woodward Avenue.

There is much to see and do along Woodward, including seeing the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, second oldest in the country.
