“Amzaing”

I never expected such a vast quanitity of fine art to be located in Michigan. I could spend hours upon hours and never fully appreciate everything here.

“Awesome art museum!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

The Diego Rivera courtyard is the show stealer, and a permanent exhibit. This museum has a wonderful collection that spans quite a few art genres... and the building itself is art. I had read online that this museum was among the top 5 in the nation, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

“A diamond in the rough”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

Very low charge for an art institute. The building is wonderful and the art was thrilling. However, it was 15 minutes to 5;00pm when it closes on a Sunday and the man closing up the Van Gogh section would not let any of us go in to see the paintings. I had to view it from 20 ft away. Im sure that's their security policy, but honestly....disappointing. Other than that...you need well over 3 hours to view everything adequately. It was a joy!

“A must in Detroit!”

Like the Henry Ford Museum, the DIA is a MUST when visiting Detroit. There are very interesting artworks from different countries. And you have to see the mural, of course.
