Got a bargain rate of $45 a night for this hotel on Hotwire and booked several rooms for the weekend with friends. Hotel was finishing with renovations (pool still under reconstruction), and it was clear that everything had been freshly painted, new carpet, and new bedding. Hotel furniture was nice, though clearly used. Staff was very helpful and efficient. Enjoyed a great weekend in Detroit - dined atop the Renaissance Center, took in a Red Wings hockey game, Eastern Market and a Lions game. Fishbone's in Greektown is a must for food and drink.

We traveled to Detroit for a Tigers game and stayed at this hotel because of the "Tigers Package" that was offered. With your room we got a pizza and 4 beers as well as use of the free shuttle to and from the game (all from the bar attached to the hotel). There is nothing wrong with this hotel, we had great service, the room was clean, bed confortable etc. The pizza and beer was perfect before the game. The only complaint I have is that that shuttle wasn't running because the major of the hotel was full of people who were part of a conference. We asked about the shuttle a couple of time, when we checked in and then again at the bar when we ordered our pizza and beers and both times were told that it leaves about an hour before the game starts. So we were ready an hour before the game starts and no shuttle....finally after waiting about 15 minutes we asked the bartender about the shuttle and was told that it wasn't running, which wasn't such a big deal, we took a taxi to and from the game it only cost $5 each way. You are close enough to the field that you could walk if you wanted too. Over all we were pleased with our stay and would stay at the hotel again.

We encountered a couple of minor (for us) inconveniences but, all in all, we enjoyed our three-night stay. First the bad news: the phone didn't work in our room and we didn't get all the TV channels listed in the hotel guide. I mentioned the phone a couple of times, and someone came to look at it, but we were just putting our son to bed. The hotel is undergoing some renovations, so maybe it had something to do with that. Ultimately, though, we didn't really need it. You also have to pay $18 a day for valet parking, but that seems common at most downtown hotels.
On the plus side, the staff are very friendly and the rates are very reasonable. The room was not huge, but clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is good (including the hot items) and we enjoyed the pool (it's ideal for younger children because it's not too deep, and all three mornings we had it to ourselves -- mind you, it was about 7:30 a.m.) They didn't charge us for a movie (not sure if it was an oversight). Free newspaper at your door in the morning, and free coffee is available all the time (with a nice jug of half and half). The location is also convenient. We were there mainly for a Tigers game, and the beautiful Comerica Park is a fairly easy walk away. They also have a two-computer business centre and a nice fitness room. We would definitely go back, although maybe we'll wait until after the renovations are finished.

The hotel was clean (Could have been cleaner) and the staff was very helpful. The attached restuarant has a shuttle to and from Comerica Park on game days. The hotel was quiet in the evening.

I stayed here with my boyfriend. He got a deal on Priceline to stay here. Unfortunately, I was unable to read the reviews on TripAdvisor before he booked. Nevertheless, after I read the reviews I kind of knew what to expect. Checkin here was uneventful and the staff seemed fairly nice. There were all sorts of conventions and family reunions in the hotel when we were there so the lobby area was always crowded with people. Parking is $18 a day and you have to text the parking attendants when you want your car. It takes them about 15 minutes to retrieve your car, so don't be in a hurry to get anywhere. One thing that really bothered us was that there is no refrigerator in the room. Also, we had to use the ethernet connection to connect to the internet and the connection was on the floor near the TV, which was a real pain in the neck to get to. They also list that they have HBO when they do not. On the good side, we asked for extra towels and they bought them up right away. The breakfast was OK. The eggs are from a powered substance, but they do have juice, bagels, muffins, and an assortment of cereals and yogurts to choose from. Coffee is available 24hours.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Detroit is not the kind of city that you go wandering off site seeing at night, especially in this area.

I would recommend that you go across the street and check out the Westin. It's beautiful with great bars and restaurants. We will probably stay there next time!!

My boyfriend and I stayed over Memorial Day Weekend. The musty smell spilled over from the bathroom to fill the whole room. The carpet, bath, and bed linens were filthy. We got a really cheap rate from Hotwire, and that was the only saving grace. Oh, and the breakfast. They put out a really nice buffet every morning for free. Would never, ever stay here again.

The area was not bad for Detroit.

I stayed at this hotel on May 20/09. Located right downtown, this hotel has $18.00 valet parking which I was aware of from previous reviews. I did however find the valets very accomodating, while allowing me to keep my vehicle in their lot 4 hrs after checking out, while I attended a Tigers ballgame - without any aggravation or hassle. Found the front desk staff friendly and accomodating, while my room was clean, fresh and welcoming - a nice change from my previous night's stay at a Comfort Inn. Be careful closing your room door as I found mine didn't close as tightly as I'm used to with other hotels I've visited - pull the door tightly upon leaving !!

This is not an area where you want to wander around at night or go for strolls with your family, but well suited for the business traveller or tourist passing through. The hotel bar had excellent food and friendly servers, while the continental breakfast was one of the better ones I've had - scrambled eggs, sausage paddies, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, toast, muffins, bagels, juice etc...

Overall, a reasonably priced, clean hotel which provides a good breakfast. The restaurant and bar is open late, has a comfortable, roomy atmosphere, while serving up good grub.
