We were in Detroit celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary. We decided not to eat at the buffet at the hotel but, here instead. We have eaten @ Texas De Brazil in Chicago so, we are more then familiar with this restaurant. There were a few differences and somethings still the same.
We arrived for our reservation a little late. The hostess said "Happy Anniversary" and showed us to our seat. We were placed at a table next to a mirror in the corner. I immediately asked her was something else available. She replied "No, we are all booked up". Now, that was surprising to me considering I am looking a quite a few empty tables. I sat down for all of 5 minutes. I got back up and went to the desk in the front. I asked this time how long is the wait for a different table. She the replied "Let me see if there's anything else available". Really! There were plenty of tables available. I don't know what the problem was moving us to a different table. I am eating in your establishment and I want to be comfortable. After about 10 minutes, she returns to the table to say that she found us another table.
We moved our table. Our waiter asked if we wanted something to drink. My husband orders a beer. He's told, they have sold out of beer except for Heineken. That's the only beer that's available in the entire restaurant. I ordered a Sangria. It was red, which I don't really care for. No white available. It was kind of weak but, I kept it. We go to the salad bar, which was much smaller then the salad bar in Chicago. They really did have anything on the salad bar that I wanted. I sit down and immediately turned over my disk for meats. I don't know if we sitting by people that had already eaten or what but, he took about 10 minutes for the person to come with meat. Once that person came then they all finally started coming. Now, their food is really good like we are use to. The steaks were seasoned well. If the meat wasn't cooked for your taste, they cooked it and bought it back to the table. You still get the garlic mashed potatoes and plantain. The food was really good.
Since we arrived late for our reservations, they were only opened for an hour after we arrived. I thought they closed at 10pm but, they closed at 9pm. We were never rushed. Our waiter asked if there was any meat that wanted more of. We also had a coupon for free dessert for our anniversary. He bought over the dessert platter so we could decide. We chose the Chocolate Mousse Cake to go. He offered to take our picture together, which we accepted.
It started off on a slow note but, ended with a bang. We love them that's why we chose to eat there. The seating was a bid odd, the service was a tad bit slow in the beginning but, the food was great. Our waiter was courteous and friendly. I would eat their again. Gave them a chance to change some of the wrongs. I like the ongoing meat. If you are not a meat person, this is not the place for you. In my opinion they are not kid friendly. Great special occasion and date night restaurant.
