Owner description: This old Detroit home belies the greatness that was born here: the Motown Sound. But one step inside Hitsville, USA, the original house where Berry Gordy lived and recorded the Motown hits, and you'll catch the beat and spirit of this booming music era. Photos, costumes, artwork, music and other memorabilia take you back to simpler times.

This place is amazing....wow the history of Motown all on display. We went on my husband birthday and they sang him Happy Birthday in the same sound room that Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and so on and so on sang in.....MUST SEE IF YOU COME TO DETROIT MICHIGAN

This is a must for anyone going to Detroit. If you like music you have got to go to this museum. I had chills the moment I stepped into the place and they continued throughout. The staff was delightful and seemed to genuinely enjoy what they were doing. They even, somehow, snuck my wife and I into a tour after telling us that we'd have to wait four hours until the next available tour. Thank you for sneaking us in! The pictures on the walls were amazing and the stories we were told were even more mesmerizing.

Please go to this museum even if you're just passing through Detroit it's worth it. I'd do it again and probably will.

Thank you Motown! I'll never forget you.

If you love great music and are in Detroit, the Motown Museum is a must-visit spot. The tour covers the main studio, Berry Gordy's former apartment, and other spots. Highly recommended, but the museum is small so get there early.

I have listened to Motown songs for decades and always wanted to visit "the" place. It was a great experience. The guide was fantastic, and very entertaining with a few sing-along during the tour :-) . It is organized and well put together. Parking is available on the street in front of the museum. You can program your GPS and easily find the place. It is closed on Mondays in certain periods of the year so make sure you check before you go. You cannot take pictures, which is OK as you are there for the overall experience. The gift shop could have a few more items as the ones they have there didn't really catch my eye. The museum is a must-see if you are in Detroit.
