Nothing much more to say than that. Often you get mediocre music and good food or mediocre food and good music. All that's needed is a "no talking" agreement when the music is on (as they do in some jazz supper clubs) and it would be close to perfect.

I love this place. It's one of my favorite spots in the city. It's got great food, but really it's about the music and the atmosphere. It was originally opened back in the 30's and the then "rediscovered" on the early 2000's. They tore down a ceiling and found the original wood ceiling still in tacked along with several other original items which were incorporated into the restaurant during it's renovation.
During the International Jazz Festival (Labor Day weekend) this place is obviously jumpin'.
It's a must see if you like music, history and good food.

We ate dinner here during restaurant week in 2012. The food was really great. The atmosphere is amazing- you really feel like you've stepped back in history. The only thing missing that night was music! We will surely go back.

If your looking for old Detroit and a little Jazz too, Cliff Bells is the place. Fun, Old Detroit feeling. $ 30 prefix menu. Food good. Cocktails fun. Cover charge for Jazz $10. Stop in for dinner before the opera. Stop back for Jazz afterwards. You can't go wrong.

Had a wonderful dinner tonight. Beet salad and duck breast was awesome, and my wife enjoyed the salmon. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Jazz during dinner was a delight. Try the "Cliff Bell," made with scotch, absinthe, and Chambord.
