The city of Detroit has a lot to offer - ethnic food, shoping and multi-cultural experience.
Fam had arranged a limo for the whole cabal. Memorable experience all-in-all.

The area that is mostly known as Mexican town is in southwest Detroit. There are the well known places but I prefer the little slightly out of the way spots. Food is just as good and the prices are more reasonable. I like to go to El Rancho on Vernor. http://elranchomexrest.net/

The food is okay. It can be a hit and miss. DO NOT WALK AROUND THE CLARK STREET AREA AFTER DARK! I would suggest you eat of the main path at a place called Taqueria Mi Pueblo, although at times the food tastes mushy, not fresh. I have heard (not sure if true) that Xochimilco Restaurant has had several food posioning situations and is not sanitary. I personally only like the fajitas here.

You can get a super nacho or fajitas you name it and it is authentic. I love going to Xochimiocos and having a huge Margarita. Detroit has lots of great places and I don't live in the city just 20 minutes away from lots of great food.

You can get Mexican food all over - but to get more authentic food you need to go to Mexican Town. Its a small area - hardly a block long - but in it are numerous restaurants and shops as well as a bakery. Try them all.
