I can not come to Detroit without visiting Greektown, even if it just to walk through! Love the street, the lights and sounds. A big mix of all kinds of people..I love the energy there!

The main block in Greektown, on Monroe Street, is probably the liveliest walking street in Detroit. It's abuzz with activity in an out of restaurants, bakeries, bars, and a casino. Sometimes street vendors, artists, and musicians entertain. Spillover crowds from sporting events and car shows come and go. The area is just a very good place for an afternoon lunch or a little bit of nightlife.

This little gem is within walking distance of Marriott Ren Cen, MGM Grand, and Westin Book Cadillac. Not really worth going on the people mover unless the weather is inclement.

Every restaurant there is just amazing!!!! There is a pizza place called Pizza Papalis that made us walk right by the hummus and spanikopita!!! Limit yourself to two slices so you can pick out a sweetie at The Astoria Bakery. They are lined out the door at this place and with good reason.

All in all a great place for food and watching sports!!

Clean, Safe, & affordable. Walk down Monroe Street and listen to music from Greece, have your portrait done by a sidewalk artist, step into an authentic Greek pastry shop for a sweet dessert after a delightful 'village dinner' (with or with-out Lamb), then top-off your adventure with an Ouzo or maybe a trip to the gaming casino.
