“If you love hockey, this is the place”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Detroiters have a love/hate relationship with this arena, slapped up in a hurry for a Republican Convention years ago. Recent renovations which added new, extensive rest room facilities were a big improvement and mean you can now spend time watching the Red Wings instead of waiting in line. Soon we'll have a new arena, with better seats, better food and maybe a better team, but for true hockey fans, this is the place...........for now.

“Good and bad”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

I visited for an afternoon game against the Blues. The good, seats very comfortable and great views from everywhere, seeing all the banners hanging from the rafters, lots of stands for food, beverages and souvenirs. The bad, scoreboard seems so old and outdated and the wait to actually exit the arena and make it to the parking garage was insane. Took at least 30 minutes from seat to car and it is not that far. I'm definitely spoiled from going to Tampa bay lightning games. The Times forum is so state of the art with the greatest scoreboard in Hockey and so much easier to get around. All in all though, a great place to watch a game. Go Wings!!

“Fantastic Arena, Historical, Excellent Time”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

This arena is a must see for any true hockey fan or Red Wings fan. It is getting a little older, but this place is just a hall of history and hockey greatness. Just look up and see the rafters, all the banners will tell of the great games play under that roof. The staff is friendly, there are many giveaway nights for fans and the food is good. Take the people mover to get the full experience! Money well spent for a hockey fan.

“Historic but not up to date compared to other teams”
Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

2nd visit this year and the more I come the more I think it's time for a new arena. Floors are sticky, bathrooms aren't very clean, and the lobby is quite dirty. I sat in the lower bowl even though you can get a great view of the ice anywhere in the arena. The scoreboard is old and outdated. Fans are usually nice and won't give opposing team visitors any trouble. I love the history behind the joe, but change is definitely needed.

“Too Much Concrete”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Ok for hockey. Rows are very tight. Your knees will be resting on the seats in front of you. Not worth seeing anything but hockey. Acoustically poor for concerts. Parking is a hassle when it is time to leave. You will wait for at least an hour. You can't really park somewhere else and walk here. Cold, concrete feeling to this place.
