Very good restaurant, pricey, but you expect that with Michael Symon's name on it. We had a nice table in the corner with very good service, I think it helped that my daughter is a regular and they knew her by sight! The menu was quite unique and delicious, but you could still get very good fish and steak. We shared appetizers and everyone enjoyed!

We sat at the bar with Zan, an awesome bartender, for dinner before the DTW Beck concert. We met Joseph Allerton, the sommelier and GM of Roast. We proceeded to feast on a dozen east coast oysters. We shared the shaved root salad, then came the duck breast with apricots and watercress. The wine of choice was an Anthill Farms Winery Pinot. We gave the wine a 4 out of 5. A GF ice cream concoction with chocolate covered toffee at the bottom literally topped off the sublime dining experience.
Kudos all at Roast. Thank you, M&N

There with a group of six, relaxed service, very good food (even for those who are not big meat-eaters).

This year, my wife and I decided to visit Michael Symon’s restaurants. Earlier, we were in Cleveland and went to both Lola & Lolita’s restaurants and had an amazing dining experience at both locations. Upon being in Detroit, Roast was at the top of our dining choice. Arriving a little early, we sat at the bar (bar was about half full), were quickly brought two glasses of water, then proceeded to wait 15 minutes before one of the bar tenders removed himself from a group conversation and offered to take our order. Drinks were excellent but when our table was ready, we almost had to beg someone to take our money; not off to a good start!!!! Fortunately, dinner and wait service was EXCELLENT as we had hoped. Dessert on the other hand was a disappointment. My wife had something they called a cake “something” which turned out to be a series of dried up, crusty, tasteless “something’s”. I ordered a cheese cake ice cream sunday with red cake croton. Ice cream had virtually no flavor, the crotons were dry, flavorless and a bit stale tasting. I know crotons may be crunchy but not stale. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves but were disappointed in the bar and dessert.

There were five of us celebrating my son's new job. We started with the Beef Cheek Pierogie and the Jerk Spiced Pork Belly. Both were very flavorful and appealed to diverse tastes among members of our party. Two people had the Beast of the Day which was goat--and they loved it! Three of us had the filet--cooked perfectly. For the sides we tried the Brussels Sprouts with Walnuts, the Whipped Potatoes, and the Wild Mushrooms--they were all very good. We then enjoyed "The Bar" for dessert--great finish! The wine list was diverse, too. Our service was exceptional, but we were seated across from the bar so it wasn't very private. People were walking back and forth throughout dinner--somewhat distracting. All in all a good experience, but when we return will definitely ask for a different table.
