“Great stay for gambling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

Me and my husband stayed here for a gambling trip. It must have been a slow day because we were upgraded to the top floor suite which had this great panoramic view of Detroit. The front desk lady was extremely friendly and upgraded us for really no reason other than to be nice. The location is nice because we just used the people mover which is attached to the building to get to Greektown. We didn't even have to be outside at all. Our room was clean and quite large. I really have no complaints. Our only problem was the parking, we didn't think to do valet so we parked ourselves, which was quite a walk away from the hotel and not very convenient.

Well, this hotel was probably modern 30 years ago.
But it has still a good situation if you need to go to the COBO hall for a fair or something else.
Front desk receptionists are friendly, there is a pool and an indoor sport center and you can walk quite quickly to the greektown area where youcan get some good food.
Do not expect a modern lobby or a fancy decoration. Bar and restaurant area are really not so inviting, even if you will get a good whiskey... Breakfast is ok... the lady preparing the eggs is very friendly. There is enough choice, but not plenty of .... It could rain in some corners of the breakfast room
Rooms were decorated in the 80's. Beds are good but it's not the kind of room where you would enjoy a week-end.

Room Tip: Ask to be not around the lift as it is really noisy

Stayed at Courtyard 1/23 for a conference. The hotel was busy with Auto Show and conferences but service was excellent. Marshall at check in was very helpful. Valet parking worth $20 charge, given weather and crowds in town. Room was a little dated but very clean. Nice view of Belle Isle. Convenient pedestrian bridge to Ren Cen allowed me to walk to all conference sessions. I will stay here again on next trip to Detroit.

We travelled to Detroit from the Chicago area with our two kids (14 & 10) to the 2013 North American International Auto Show. We were completely unfamiliar with the downtown area. I booked this hotel based upon positive reviews and the fact that you could board the People Mover from inside. Cobo was only a 2 minute ride! After a long day at the show, we came back to enjoy the pool. Then we hopped back on the People Mover for a 4 minute ride into Greektown for a late supper. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The person at the pool was attentive. Although we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, we did have cocktails to go to the pool and back to the room. Very refreshing and convenient. Our room was clean and there was adequate elbow room for the four of us. We did not notice any unreasonable noise from outside or other guests inside. We found the beds to be soft and comfortable. The parking garage was easily accessed from inside the hotel as well. There was an issue with our thermostat in the middle of the night which caused our room to be uncomfortably warm, but we reported it upon checking out and it would not prevent us from considering staying here again. Our experience here was generally positive and we would stay here again because of the location, the easy access to other areas of downtown via the People Mover station, and the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the staff.

This is a very nice hotel downtown. Conveniently located. The lobby and restaurant were first class. The breakfast buffet had many good choices and the food quality was very good. The front desk, valet and restaurant staff were all very friendly. The hotel itself looked to be in new condition. The rooms were large and well appointed and very clean. Great quality place for the price.

Visited this hotel a while ago. Smoothest, quickest check in EVER! Nice, clean and modern, very quiet. Amazing view! Very nice, clean indoor pool and whirlpool! Ordered a delicious pizza from the kitchen. The outdoor tennis court and running track offers great views of the city! Definitely coming back!

Room Tip: Choose a high room for great view!

Not a whole lot to say. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of space.
The hotel is conveniently located (within walking distance) for most downtown Detroit sites/restaurants/bars/Ford Field/Comerica Park, etc. Probably would need taxi or car to get to MGM Grand or Motor City Casinos, but the Greektown Casino is within walking distance.
Weekend parking in the garage behind the hotel was pretty cheap, maybe only $10 for our overnight stay. It doesn't include in/out privileges like the valet parking though.
You can get partial river-views from some rooms, but city-view is just as interesting to us.
