“Great old hotel and great location for visitors to The Henry Ford Museum”
Reviewed August 23, 2012

I absolutely loved the nostalgia of this hotel! This hotel originally opened in 1931 by Henry Ford. Expect a well-cared for, albeit very old hotel experience. The grounds themselves were a sight to see. Definitely not the "norm" for any hotel I've stayed at in the past.

We had "Concierge" rooms, which offered continental breakfast, hors d'oeuvres, and evening dessert. My family and I enjoyed these perks and being able to get breakfast first thing in the morning was great. Note: aside from the two restaurants in the hotel, there is nothing nearby (or at least within short walking distance).

The outdoor, heated pool was also very good! Pool side service was prompt and courteous.

We were there to visit The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, which were a mere half mile down the road. Talk about convenient location!

My complaint (which could certainly be a deal breaker for some) would've been the cost. It's an expensive hotel stay, no doubt. Made even worse by the added expense of Internet access (which we did without opting to use the free wifi in the lobby). If I'm paying close to $250/night for a hotel room, I should get free Internet access. Period. It's time for hotels to stop this petty practice!

Room Tip: Opt for the "Concierge" rooms to get access to the lounge.

I really liked this place. It had very good customer services and very nice furnishings. It is a very elegant hotel and the two restaurants on site had good food at a decent price. The layout of the hotel is interesting, but it is a historic place. We left something in the room when we left and the people at the hotel couldn't have been nicer in getting our address and said they would send it to us. Will stay here on a ll future business trips to Detroit.

Charming and if you like economic history it's in the midst of Ford museums and research facilities. Expensive - I paid $212 for one night in a king bed including valet parking and tax. The cottages are nicer than the main building and are very historic. Avoid wedding season which seems to be the only business thriving in Detroit - two major hotels were sol out and another required a two night minimum. Service with a smile and they did grt the roll away out of our room promptly and snagged a space heater from the front desk to offset the frigid air conditioning that is seasonally controlled?? Our television only got two channels but they didn't get around to that.

Booked rooms for our wedding party at this hotel after speaking to reservations about using the beautiful grounds for pre-wedding pictures. Called a week prior to event to get my photographer some ideas of were to take photos, and was told by the hotel manager that other wedding parties had contractual rights to most of the areas that were promised by the reservations agent that we were supposed to be able to use for our pictures. The hotel manager did nothing for us, except assign us a "Chaperone" the day of the event to escort us around the property to ensure we did not infringe on his other guests who were using the hotel for their wedding & reception also. Their reservations agents promised us an experience to get us to book our 5 rooms, but as it turns out if you spend more money at the resort, such as the other 2 wedding parties were doing, they get top priority. I also spoke to the concierge desk to do something nice for the night of our wedding. Concierge promised they would take care of us, and the Manager also knew of this request. We received absolutely nothing on the night of our wedding. Three weeks after our wedding this manager is still arguing with me through email correspondence. He has not been truly apologetic, and has offered nothing in compensation for a ruined stay at this resort.
This hotel is outdated and definitely in need of upgrades to the rooms. The service is terrible, and the management staff only cares about the $$$ you spend.
I will never stay at the Dearborn Inn again !

We stayed at this Marriott property for one night, 8/4/2012, because we had a wedding to attend at nearby Greenfield Village. The room contained one queen bed and was very awkwardly arranged. The room was very small and reeked of smoke. I am not sure how long this hotel has been smoke-free, but it sure hasn't been long since someone has smoked in the room we stayed in.

The front desk staff was polite, and the lobby looked good, but overall I wouldn't stay here again for $135.00.

I will look elsewhere next time.

Good hotel with great beds to sleep. Is not a modern hotel but will work for a calm getaway.

The good:
Good to rest, near museums, restaurants and business Ten Eyck tavern and Edison's are two good places to go.

The bad.
Pricing, and internet has An extra charge. Elevator may are small but functional.

Recomended for: business travel, couples, adults and tose who like the charm of history and good acomodations.

This is an historic property, being built in 1931 by Henry Ford. The rooms are nice, the pub was good, and the workers were friendly. The only negatives, no one to help with the luggage when we checked in, and the Inn is a little tough to see at night.

Room Tip: Concierge floor rooms were good, and the lounge is nice.
