“Big Rooms and Fresh Fruit!”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

We originally booked to stay at the Henry Ford Collection in Dearborn, however due to their ongoing renovations we were moved to the Dearborn Inn. I was a little concerned about the last minute hotel change as we were only notified about a week before we were due to travel, however there was no need to be concerned as the hotel was lovely.

We had gotten a good deal online to have a suite at the Henry Ford and this was honoured at the Dearborn Inn with a huge suite and access to the lounge which included complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and desserts.

The boys at check in were welcoming and friendly and checking in was really easy. The hotel has more than adequate complimentary onsite parking and a large welcoming entrance which is still designed in the old style. The hotel has some interesting history. Located right near the Ford proving ground, it was originally built as a hotel by Henry Ford himself.

I have to say our suite is the biggest room I have ever stayed in. It was so large you could almost do cartwheels across it.

Breakfast was great with a lot of fresh fruit and cereals as well as a hot item if you liked. The staff were friendly and offered up advice of the best places to visit and shop. The hotel has a nice restaurant and also a bar. We had dinner in the bar one night and again the service was good, food tasty and reasonably priced. The pizza breads were a creative addition for a starter and very nice!

Internet is available in your room for a fee but free WIFI is available in the lobby and business centre where there are many lovely seats to sit around and lounge in so you have no trouble checking emails if needed.

The hotel is not really located near anything so if you stay it is advisable that you have a car. However the hotel does offer car rental and is close to the airport. One disadvantage for us was that all of the places and people we’d come to see were over the other side of Michigan. Normally this would not be a problem but the M39 is currently closed for road works so detours added about 20-30 minutes on most of our journeys and usually through the less savoury parts of town.

Our tip if you stay here (as it is for anywhere) is; get a good internet deal. Our friend also booked for the same dates and it cost him the same for a standard room without breakfast as it did us for a suite. The standard room rate seemed quite expensive for the location and room size. This hotel with the bigger rooms, expansive grounds and a pool and gym would also be good for families.

Room Tip: Go for the suite if you can.

We stayed there in June 2011. This is a place that goes back in time. Service is number one.
You can't beat the location for touring Greenfield Village and the Museum. You will love this place. Also the Sunday brunch is awesome.

Stay here for proximity to offices of the Ford Motor Company.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors in main building.

We stayed here as a participant in the Old Car Festival at Greenfield Village. What a wonderful place. While we've attended several functions here, this was our first (not the last) time staying here. Our room was on the small side, but had all the necessary items--great bed with crisp linens, clean bathroom with plenty of fluffy towels and most importantly, the room was quiet. No noise from outside or above at all. The front desk staff was very helpful, too. We'll be back with our old car next year.

This is a perfect Hotel for business travellers, who are always in a hurry and forget something or the other when they pack.I had forgotten shaving cream, which many people do and the hotel front desk were able to produce one immediately without even charging me.Now here is the real thin which no one would expect. I had also forgotten my collar stays and it was 10:00pm, there was no possibility of any shops being open.My meeting were to start at 7:00 am next morning.I just thought I would take a chance, went to the front desk and they had a packet.I am simply amazed at their level of thinking. They know business people will always need such things and will always forget to pack them, so they just keep them in stock.Great service, food was good, everything else worked efficiently and in a non-obtrusive manner.Highly recomemded if you are visiting Detroit for work.

This hotel is adjacent to the Ford offices (walking distance - the parking lots touch) and also just a two minute rude to The Henry Ford Museum. The rooms are large, the facilities very nice and the rates reasonable. We will certainly stay here again next time we are in the Dearborn area. If you have business in Detroit this is about a 15 minute ride to downtown Detroit without traffic. It is also an ideal hotel to knave your spouse or family at if you have to go work someplace for the day. The hotel has excellent food and the Henry Ford Museum, while a two minute drive is only a 15 minute walk at most. The rugs in the room I had were bait dated which is the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars. That said, renovations are ongoing.

We stayed her for three nights while visiting the nearby Henry Ford. The front desk staff was excellent, as were the two ladies that ran the offerings of the Concierge Floor. Our room was very spacious and beautifully furnished with reproductions. The hotel offered transportation to the museum which was handy. The concierge staff tipped us off to many touring dos and donts, and also pointed us to the neighborhoods of houses Henry Rord built for his factory workers.

Room Tip: In addition to the main hotel building there are reproduction historic houses you can stay in.
