Tickets for the tour are bought at the Henry Ford and you take a bus ride, about 10 minutes to the factory. You watch 2 short films, much worth watching. Next is the observation tower to overlook the facility and then off to the factory. You walk at your own pace in the catwalks above the factory floor. Tour guides are at various places along the way. You do not get to see the complete assembly of the F150, but still worth it. About 2 hours.

“wonderful visual”
Reviewed August 8, 2010

My 7yo and I did the tour as part of our visit to the museum and village. It was great, I would have never known what the inside of a car factory was like otherwise. We got 1/2 price tickets because we bought there rather than on-line (and got a combo ticket for the museum and village). They do a great job of explaining the hows and whys. You won't be disappointed.

“Great for all ages”
Reviewed May 4, 2010

This is a really interesting tour given by people who seem to live and breathe it - they are so knowledgeable and want to share that knowledge with you - just great.
One thing to check is whether or not the line will actually be running when you visit - there are down times.

“Excellent factory tour- well worthwhile with great entertainment value”
Reviewed January 29, 2010

This is an excellent factory tour.

If you are visiting The Henry Ford, I recommend you allow a half day for this tour.

It comprises 4 parts:

1. View the historical movie. This tells the story of the Rouge in a remarkably frank manner.

2. The sound and light show, when the manufacture of modern cars is dramatized in an entertaining fashion.

3. A self guided tour of the factory. You can walk around the assembly plant, along elevated walkways. There are several interactive displays as you make the tour.

4. Display of Ford cars from the past.

This is an excellent tour, which is designed to entertain a broad range of people- not just car fanatics.

Both the factory and the visitor facilities are modern and highly professional.

Highly recommended

“Very cool!”
Reviewed December 2, 2008

If you have a child with sensory integration issues this may not be a great place. My husband, myself and one son liked this a lot but, it was very difficult for my 8 year old who has issues with sensory integration. He basically could not get out of there fast enough with the sensory overload. If you don't have a family member with sensory integration, I highly recommend going. My favorite part was watching the factory team building the truck from start to finish. It was really cool.
