“Don't Miss Beautiful, Historic Greenfield Village”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

History comes to life for young and old as they visit and meander between historic homes, industrial and agricultural tributes to American innovators and distinguished American icons. The landscaping is beautiful. Visit a working farm, see artisans at work, ride a steam engine train, or in a Model-T, or horse-drawn carriage. Visit the Menlo Laboratory where Edison invented his incandescent lightbulb. Well-informed docents share interesting facts about each home or attraction you visit and answer questions. Have tea at the picturesque Cotswold Cottage Cottage (brought here from England), have an ice-cream at the Sir John Bennett Sweet Shop (also from England), or have a locally sourced seasonal meal inspired by 1850's recipes at the Eagle Tavern! This is a First Rate, Not-to-be- Missed experience that is unique to Michigan!

Had a wonderful time. Many interesting things to see. Nicely laid out making it very easy to get around. Started out by taking the train which is narrated giving us an idea what we wanted to see. All the buildings have guides who are very well informed. Definitely worth going to

“A Highlight of our Weekend”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

This was another amazing stop on our whirlwind weekend tour of the Detroit area. The collection of buildings was very impressive and it's hard to fathom so many important historical buildings are in one place. (Sure, some of them are reconstructions but many are original.)

We spent the bulk of the day here and we didn't even get to see it all. By the end we had to start focusing on specific things we wanted to see instead of going into every building. The staff on hand are very good at their jobs and were always pleased to tell us about their areas. They put on some great displays.

We made sure to take time to enjoy the rides as well, including the train, the Model Ts, the carousel, etc. Sure, it adds to the overall cost of the visit but it's worth it knowing you're having fun and helping to pay for the upkeep of this place at the same time.

If you're doing a multiple day visit to this area be sure to buy your tickets all at the same time so you can take advantage of the discounts such as only paying the $5 parking fee once.

“Neat place”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

It's a neat collection of historical buildings. Take the time to walk around and talk to staff members who provide further details to each building/innovation.

“A look into the future!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Buckminster Fuller's concept house and the exhibit on future predictions from the World's Fairs of the past were pretty amazing.
