A great place to eat at while visiting Greenfield Village. Not a bad thing on the menu, wonderful service, and a great visual experience and....a step back in time!

Thank Louis S

A visit to Greenfield Village is not complete without visiting The Eagle Tavern. Venture back to a simpler time ... a tavern on a multi-day journey from Detroit to Chicago ...
OK, well maybe not that far back, but ... you'll be sure to enjoy the setting. Don't miss it.

This was a great time. Things you need to know. Family type seating. No private tables. Traditional American food, prepared in a traditional turn of the 19th century way. Plenty of food! Organically grown locally in the Dearborn area. Some interesting entertainment during the meal. After dinner and included with your online reservations come tickets for all to the best Christmas Celebration I've ever attended, Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford has "Holiday Nights" through December every year. It is awesome! Finishing up just after 9:30pm with a great fireworks show to boot. Great family fun for all ages. Too much going on there to describe in this short space. Suffice to say, just make the reservations. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Stay at the Dearborn Inn. Go see Edsel and Eleanor Ford's estate in Grosse Pointe Shores. We made an ALL FORD weekend of it! Whether you are a car enthusiast or not, you will enjoy this trip. The weather was perfect the last weekend in December for us.

I enjoyed the food at the Eagle Tavern. Recipes are from 19th century cookbooks and are very tasty. It is a limited menu but this is the case when you are at a restaurant using fresh ingrediants. Portions are big so if you are on a budget you can easily split an entree. The sides are enough for a meal as well. And if you are on a budget, get a bowl of the soup and some breads and you will be plenty full. (they are big bowls of soup!!) My husband ordered the squash soup and neither of us cared I have to say but the Chicken dumpling is some of the best I've had. The bubble and squeak is very yummy. The dessert was a pandowdy and many people will not care for that. The service and ambiance are very special. I highly recommend.
