“Soup and Sides”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

Get the lemonade. Unless it is your only meal of the day, have the excellent soup and side dishes....with a bowl of soup each, sharing the four sides filled us up enough, but not so full we couldn't keep on seeing all the great places at Dearborn Village.

“Slow service, lackluster food, a waste of time”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

This place looked like it was going to be authentic and the food above the ordinary, but in the end it was red pop labeled as "effervescent beverages" and other similar examples (my trout was greasy and unseasoned and the "tomatoes and lettuce dressed" was just a completely boring dinner salad). Also the service was really slow and there is so much to do at Greenfield Village it's a shame to waste your time here when you could get a quicker lunch elsewhere and carry on with all the fun.

“Lunch with a group of kids on a field trip!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

While visiting Greenfield Village with a group of girls ages 6-11 we found it hard to find a place to eat. Then an employee told us about The Eagle Tavern. The girls loved it! They loved the macaroni straws and when they asked for french fries were told "we have never heard of the, what are they"!It was a wonderful, educational meal for them to eat by candle light because electricity had not been invented yet! They asked lots of questions and loved their food. Five girls had the chicken fingers with roasted red skinned potatos (Huge portion for $6.00) and the other one loved her huge portion of mac and cheese for 4.00 The two adults loved our food too! The chicken corn chowder soup was great and we absolutely loved the noodles with summer squash! The roll, muffin and homemade strawberry jam were like having dessert!

Wonderful food and at a reasonable cost. Great service. Try the pickles and breads that are complementary.

“It's good the old recipes were saved”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

The Eagle Tavern, in Greenfield Village, uses recipes from the mid-1800's and my meal made me glad the recipes were saved. I had an outstanding trout - fresh and done perfectly. The beans and potatoes served with it were flavored to bring out the taste of the vegetables. The heirloom tomato salad could have been a meal in itself. Even the lettuce tasted delicious.
