Visit the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. You will not be disappointed. The minute you enter the building you will be awed. The museum is massive and immaculate. The first exhibit you will see is about aviation in America. The museum has a 1939 DC-3 suspended from the ceiling and is a very impressive sight. From there it just gets better. Plan on spending a full day at the museum if you want to see all of the exhibits. Another day if you want to go to Greenfield Village. Personally I think, like most museums, its not a great place for children. There are interactive exhibits for children and many items of profound historical significance, however, the museum is huge and the younger they are the quicker they will become bored.

The Henry includes both Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. One could easily spend days in both places, but one day in each place is a good time frame for a first trip. At the museum, a favorite exhibit is " Your Place in Time". Each family member will have a chance to reminisce about childhood and realize how many changes have occurred during a short lifetime. Also the exhibit "With Libery and Justice for All" is a must see with Lincoln's Ford Theater chair and Rosa Park's bus. The Presidential limos including Kennedy's from that fateful day in November 1963 are also memorable. Car buffs will love love love " Driving America". Exhibit.
At the village, turn left right after the railroad tracks and head over to Firestone Farm. The kids will love the animals and be sure to talk to the costumed interpreters. They love to tell you the history of the place. If budget allows, buy the transportation package so yoy can experience Model T , bus and a train ride. Fun stuff. Also lunch at Eagle tavern is a unique experience that will allow your party to go light for dinner. The Henry Ford experience is a must do for all and well worth a dedicated trip to the Detroit Metro area. This is American history at its best.

The Henry Ford, also know as Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum is a wonderful place to visit any time of year there are so many events going on around the holidays. Be sure to check out the magical Holiday Nights and maybe take a sleigh ride through the village. The Ford Factory Tour is also very interesting on a cold or rainy day. I didn't think I would enjoy so much as a woman who is only mildly interested in cars but this was fun and I learned so much. Right now it might be timely to view the limousine that President Kennedy was riding in when shot in Dallas at the Museum. Finally if you just want to sit back and relax go to the huge Imax and see what's playing. It's always immaculately clean and well maintained throughout The Henry Ford and so worth the price of admission.

We had a half a day to ourselves on a work trip and decided to check out the Henry Ford Museum.

It was awesome! Such a great place. We spent 3 hrs including the Rouge Factory tour and still only saw a portion.

The tour of the rouge plant, where they build F150, is my favorite.

Dont miss this if you are in the Detroit area.
