Visit the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. You will not be disappointed. The minute you enter the building you will be awed. The museum is massive and immaculate. The first exhibit you will see is about aviation in America. The museum has a 1939 DC-3 suspended from the ceiling and is a very impressive sight. From there it just gets better. Plan on spending a full day at the museum if you want to see all of the exhibits. Another day if you want to go to Greenfield Village. Personally I think, like most museums, its not a great place for children. There are interactive exhibits for children and many items of profound historical significance, however, the museum is huge and the younger they are the quicker they will become bored.
