We stopped here for our second time last month. We where a bit rushed last visit. This time we took my in-laws and made a whole weekend out of it. There was so much stuff that I had missed last time. They have something for everyone not just Fords. Not just cars. I particularly enjoyed the steam engines and the old diner that they brought in. I remember last time we went my mother was in a wheelchair, due to a broken leg. The entire site is very handicap friendly and was easily accessible. A great educational place for the family.

The museum was excellent. Well worth our time and cost. The older cars, trucks, buses are in cherry condition.

The Henry Ford Museum is a wonderful way to spend a day. It takes time to wander the exhibits and really see and understand the passage of the industry thru the various evolutions of technology. Ask a Docent about things that interest you, eat at the Diner inside or have a hot dog at the entrance area, but don't rush yourself. This is not some place you can appreciate in an hour, aside from realizing the grandness of it all.

There are many, many gems from history and simply interesting vehicles and items to see here. From presidential limos to the actual bus Rosa Parks made her famous protest on. Aircraft, a Train, steam engines and horse drawn carriages.

So much to see at this museum but what really stands out in my mind was the fact that they had on display the actual chair that Lincoln was shot in, blood stains and all. So interesting was the Civil War/Civil Rights exhibit and could have spent a lot longer in the museum.

...and, we didn't allow enough for this great museum. We didn't think it could compare to the great museums of Chicago or Washington, DC, so I planned to see Greenfield Village, The Henry Ford, and the Rouge Plant in a day and a half. Du'Oh!

Don't make the mistake we did. This is a world class museum. The layout is modern and open. You can see many of the bigger exhibits from almost anywhere on the main floor. Because we only had four hours we were running around like kids in a toy store; "Cool, look at that! Let's go see it." The exhibits blend history and nostalgia, the information on the plaques is concise and informative, with plenty of things you'll remember when you go home.

You need at least a full day for this museum.
