“Well worth a return visit!”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Dapple-Gray is one of the nicest bed & breakfasts we have stayed at. The owners have spared no expense when building this beautiful log home along with the furninshings. Their house keeping is spotless and their collections and decorating are top notch! I highly recommend staying here and would love to return for a couple of days!

We would recommend the Dapple-Gray without hesitation. Ole, Ruth & Abe were wonderful hosts. The accomodations were amazing & the setting was perfect - peaceful & serene with great views of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee. Copper Harbor is just a couple minute drive or bike ride away.

The Keweenaw Peninsula is probably my favorite place on the planet, but until recently the accommodations were always so-so, but Dapple Grey has definitely set the bar much higher for the area!

We stayed just one night at the B&B. Ollie is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met, and made us feel at home right away. We stayed in the Americana Room, which was well decorated without making me feel like I was going to break anything. The T.V. was a bit small, but we weren't there to watch T.V. anyway! We really enjoyed the view from the deck off of our room (Lake Superior sunsets, anyone?), and deck chairs were provided.

Breakfast was also good, with a selection of homemade banana bread, local jams, and other goodies to go with the eggs Benedict and coffee. Yum. I would only note two things - 1) my husband is 6' tall and JUST fit in the bed. If you're taller than 6' you might want to book the North Woods room, which has a larger bed. 2) I've stayed at a few B&Bs, and most provide little shampoos and other bath items, but Dapple Grey just had a large bottle of Old Spice 3-in-1 in the shower. So bring your own shampoo unless you want to smell like a guy all day!

Overall, it's a clean, friendly place, and I hope that we can stay here every time we visit the Keweenaw. Book early - I wanted to book the North Woods room for Aug., and I when called in January it was already booked! With only 4 rooms and a great reputation, it fills up fast.

Room Tip: If you're tall, try to pick the North Woods room - it's the only one with a queen bed. All...

Dapple-Gray is a beautiful log B&B and the innkeepers, Ole & Ruth are wonderful hosts. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is indescribable, Ole can cook for us anytime!!!! My only “comment” for not giving Dapple-Gray 5 star rating is our room was not serviced during our multi-day stay (bed never made up, trash empty or towels exchange). My wife and I have stayed at many B&B’s in our travels and found this a bit unusual. That said, I would stay at Dapple-Gary again as it’s the best place in Copper Harbor.

We stayed at the cabin (not the Lodge) for a week and loved it. It is very well maintained, sunny and private. On a colder day we used the fireplace and electric heating and it kept it very warm. The lake is across the road, a short walk to several small rocky beaches. Bigger, sandy beaches are a short drive away. Copper Harbor restaurants, post office, grocery store, light house harbor, park and various trails are all also a short drive or bike ride away. There is a good number of bike riding trails and hiking trails that are all very safe. A bike rental place in Copper Harbor has a good selection of bikes and provides all needed information. This has been one of the best active vacations for our family in a very quiet and scenic area. There is no cell phone service in this area but the owners at the Lodge have a phone we were allowed to use. The phone service is back a few miles down the road towards Eagle Harbor. Most restaurants in Copper Harbor have wifi and provide passwords so you can upload your emails! The cabin has only one bathroom but we found it ideal despite that. We kept the windows open every night listening to the waves - truly a great place.

We spent two nights at Dapple-Gray. What a great find! Amazing setting and beautiful accomodations. Friendly "homey" relaxed atmosphere. Delicious full breakfasts - homemade banana bread and jams, Ruth's scrambled eggs and Ole's Eggs Benedict were scrumptious. We'll be back!

We stayed one night at Dapple-Gray. A beautiful log lodge....looked new and was extremely clean. Seashell room was beautiful and had everything you would need. The owners were friendly and gracious...breakfast was good and plentiful....sausage and eggs....homemade jams. Certainly best place to stay near Copper Harbor. Felt a little overwhelmed in common areas with the antiques. Otherwise a good stay in an otherwise remote area.

Room Tip: We did not see the other rooms but there are no kings available. Seashell room very nice with two d...
