“Great dinner!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We had pizza here when in town for a wedding. The food & the service was great! Also the atmosphere was very nice. There are not many choices for food in the keweenaw but we would definitely eat here again.

There's two options when lodging at the Mariner North: the motel, or the cabins.

I always stay in the motel because it's cheap, and we're only using it as a place to crash after a day of skiing at Mount Bohemia. It's nothing fancy, but why would you expect to be? For four people, it's $99/night in one of two of the lodging options in Copper Harbor. It's not going to be the Ritz Carlton.

What you do get for a great price is a big room with comfy beds and a basic bathroom with a "whirlpool hot tub." You also get a great location, right next to the Mariner North bar & restaurant. It's always clean, and although it seems like you should have a problem with noise due to the paper-thin construction of the place, you never do.

My one complaint for the Mariner North: the booking & staff. You have to go to the bar in the restaurant to get your room. And if you've read any of the other reviews of the Mariner North bar & restaurant, you'll know that the staff is less-than-helpful. Trying to get someone to help you get your room is a feat, and 90% of the time the person who does finally help you isn't actually the person who handles the lodging. What a pain.

I'll return to the Mariner North. It's what you'd expect to get for $99 in the middle of nowhere, and if you just need a place to rest your head for a few nights, it's hard to do any better than this place.

Room Tip: You can usually always get a room in the motel with little or no-notice in the winter.

We had dinner here. It is a nice restaurant, lodge style decor, the food and service was good. Have been here a few times. Would go back again. We did not spend the night here. We tried to get a room here a couple of years ago when we we here and could not get anyone to help us, even to find out if they had rooms available, but it was quit busy. We went up the street and got a room right away.

We came here just to eat after having a poor experience at Tamarack down the street (see my review on Tamarack Inn).

They seated my family of six quickly, although when I asked if we could sit on the patio, they said, "Yes but there is no service out there. You have to take your food out yourself and the waitstaff doesn't come out there." I thought that was bizarre, so we ate in.

Food was decent, nothing special, a tad pricey - nice atmosphere, though.

We stayed in the front two-story hotel. We had a large group and used 2 rooms on the first floor. The rooms were simple, clean, and spacious. They included a refrigerator, futon, sliding doors to a small patio, and a large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Their was plenty of floor space for us to set up our pack 'n play for our baby and still have lots of room to move around. The location is great as it is within very short walking distances to the water (which provided us with a beautiful sunset one night), restaurants, bars, and a small grocery store. Copper Harbor is a great place to stay when exploring all the Copper Country has to offer. My only negative comment, which I don't think is a big deal, is the bedding and towels could use some updating. Other than that, we have absoutely no complaints and would definitely stay here again. This hotel was worth the money.

Stayed here a few nights and really liked it. We stayed in room #9 which is in the 1-story section along the back road. Ate at the restaurant which was average. Good service overall. Room was clean and roomy. Bed was comfortable. Jacuzzi tub was nice but an older model. Tile work around tub needed to be reworked. Tile under toilet was cracked as well. Being a former tile guy, I would have fired whoever did their tile work!
No airconditioning but they only have 2 warm months per year up there so not a surprise. No view of the lake.
Still a good deal!

Room Tip: The 1-story part of the hotel has nice porch with chairs!

We stayed in the front of the two-story motel building. The room was large, clean and comfortable. No problems to report. This is the newest place to stay in Copper Harbor, but don't expect a wonderful view. You'll have to stay in one of the older motels along the shore to get that.
