Stayed here recently for 2 days. On the positive side: newer hotel so everything is new and squeaky clean, well appointed (if a little cramped) rooms, and good breakfast.
On the negative side; staff doesn't know or understand Marriott policies, or how to run a hotel for that matter. I asked for late checkout (which is a guaranteed benefit for Gold Elite members) but was told it's only guaranteed to Platinum members. When I pointed out that's obviously incorrect, I was then told "Guaranteed" late checkout is "based on availability". At this point I'm thinking the management should look up the definition of the word "guaranteed". Front desk couldn't have cared less.
On the 2nd day housekeeping doesn't show up. When I managed to track down housekeeping in the afternoon, I was told our room is "not on the list". They finally figure it out and clean the room. No apologies.
More fun to come: 2 days after checkout I see a random $41 charge on my credit card. I call to inquire, and was immediately told oh, we'll refund that. I ask what's going on, and after a few minutes of "research" more things come to light. I'm told they couldn't find my rewards certificate number (I reserved using free nights awards redemption using points - rewards certificate should be attached to my reservation). I ask if it's standard practice to charge a random amount to a credit card if they couldn't figure our the free nights redemption, without contacting me or without contacting Marriott rewards. I'm told "Well, we didn't have anything else to charge to..." I kid you not. I'm further told that I should call Marriott rewards, figure out what the free night certificate number is, and call back the hotel (a Marriott property) so that they can refund me. I ask her "isn't that your job?" No apologies again.
At this point I stop looking for coherent logic based answers, and decide to call Marriott rewards myself. The lady I spoke to is shocked that they charged my credit card, and even more shocked that they asked me to call Marriott rewards. Marriott properties have a direct number to call Marriott rewards if there are any issues, she tells me. Well I'm sure that's news to the six year olds that seems to be running this particular hotel, I tell her.
