Really liked this small and nice clean hotel. It's a bit off the main roads to and out of Detroit, but really worth a stay. Breakfast was included and it was pretty good. Room is nice, clean and modern with true HD TV. I asked for a room with windows away from the main road (registration girl was super nice) and the night was quite and peaceful. Will definitely stay here again.

My plan was to stay at this hotel one month, I must reduce it to one week as the cleaning of my room was poorly done, one day it was not done at all. Breakfast is exactly the same everyday, fried eggs or hot cakes, no more options.

I reserved TownePlace Suites Detroit Commerce from 29th Dec to January 1st, 2017 with Studio two Queen beds by Marriott website. The time when I booked, I chose 2 queen beds because of my two children. However, When we arrived at this hotel (BTW, there is no clear front reception door in this hotel), the counter manager Katarina gave room409 at the first time. When we went in front of this room with 4 big bags with two children, we couldn't enter this room because the card key was NOT working. I went down and she merely told me that this room is out of order (no sorry at all). She gave me different room (room220) without considering that my family and bags are at 4th floor. She simply said "Use Elevator". When we finally went to Room220, we realized that this is one queen bed with sofa bed. I called to front desk and inquired. Finally, she said that there is no two queen available. I am very upset because we specifically picked this hotel because of two queen beds. We were not informed at all about this change without notification, also, she didn't tell us anything when we checked in. We had to move two rooms with many bags and tired children. We couldn't accept this situation and we had to leave this hotel at late night. No sorry, No explanation, very unprofessional. As a long time Marriott customer, I am very disappointed in this happening.

As we pride ourselves in guest satisfaction it is obvious something went wrong. I would like to assure you that your concerns have been addressed and we have rectified the situation with our front desk associates. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite in December. The rooms were nice size with everything we needed to be comfortable for a week's stay. Shopping and restaurants were within a mile. Staff couldn't have been better. We were treated like we were the only people staying there, in spite of the fact that the parking lot was always full or near full. Breakfast was varied and hot. It was constantly stocked even close to the time it closed at 10 am. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in Oakland County.

We like this hotel, and have stayed there 4 times now. But in our last 2 visits we had problems with the room temperature. In the summer we had a room that had no air conditioning. They could not fix it, we move to a different room. This visit, in December, it was cold outside, like 5 degrees. Our room was at 61 degrees, and that is as high as it would go. We love sleeping in 61 degrees, so we did the first night. But in the morning, it is damn cold. So we ask for maintenance. They said we checked your room and the heat is working fine. But, it wasn't, unless 61 is fine. There was nothing we could do to the thermostat to get heat. We requested another room. Which, was not an issue. We moved to our new room, and wow, there was plenty of heat, like 80 degrees. Tried to turn it down, but nothing worked, expect opening the window to let some of that 5 degree air in. We finally found the right amount of window opening to balance the heat, which we had set to OFF. We were the automatic thermostat. Once we got the temp we wanted it was fine, and we did not request another room for fear of more problems.
So if you are staying here, check out your thermostat control before accepting the room. Apparently the units they installed when it was new are not holding up very well.
It is still a great hotel, but be aware the room temperature may not be to your liking.
