We had a great meal at the common grille. menu had many choices that all looked good. my wife had sword fish special and i had sausage ravioli. both excellent. bread is excellent had to resist eating more. I like their vinegary coleslaw most restaurants only can find 1 or 2 things i want to order, but here i usually find 7 or 8 dishes that look tempting. I had tiramisu very good too.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch with our two year old granddaughter before our tour of the Chelsea Teddy Bear Factory ( which was a total bust). The lunch was great - very tasty seafood chowder and crispy chicken sandwich, which the kitchen split for us. Our granddaughter had the children's menu fish and fries, which turned out to be a beautiful piece if grilled whitefish. She devoured it. Great stop.

The food at the Common Grill is fantastic. Great preparation, wonderful flavor. Its an attraction that draws people from Detroit and parts farther away for dinner. Some of the best meals I have had in recent years. Well worth the price.

We've dined at the Common Grill several times in the last few years, driving as far as 2 hrs to get there. Each and every meal has been outstanding: the service, the food, the ambience. In this day and age, that is a rare event. The service: many of the staff have been there since the Common Grill opened....they are loyal, knowledgeable, attentive. The food: outstanding, down to every detail. Excellent bread basket, consistent, great food. Virtually anything you select will be a delight to your palate. We've had the mixed grill, the bouillabaisse, the halibut, the salmon, the perch, the jambalaya, their salads, their desserts...truly EVERYTHING is well prepared and well presented. Great attention to detail without being fussy. A restaurant of this consistency and quality is rare find in this day and age. Go, support Jeff Common and his team, and the Chelsea community. Just don't go so often we can't get a table!

Have had many a meal before theatre at The Purple Rose, and the Common Grill never disappoints. Brunch on Sunday is excellent. Saturday, they do not serve brunch, but they do serve a wonderful lunch menu. Met a friend there today for lunch before a show--we both had the Whitefish, and it was excellent. Soup and salads before the meal were great. The bread is awesome. Service was attentive. We sat for over 2 hours, and never felt rushed. Pricing is very reasonable---Under $30 each, including beverage, a shared dessert, tax and 20% tip. Highly recommend.
