“Surprised and disappointed”
Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

Have been a fan of the Common for years and go there once a year. Visited yesterday and was surprised to see prices have risen since last visit. Ordered the Asian Vegetable Salad. Very little substance: a strip of pepper here, a slice of carrot there...a dried pea on the bottom. Flavor was o. k. But at $13 + tax + tip, a bit much for what was given. Other guests seemed satisfied but with so much competition, I think there is better value elsewhere. Ambiance and service were still top notch.

“Excellect service and food”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We went to dinner at Common Grill last Saturday to celebrate an anniversary. Unfortunately, they do not accept reservations for groups under six, but they do take same day call ahead seating. If you're going on a Saturday night, they start taking calls at 3:30 pm (per their website). We called at 4:00 and the earliest time they had at that point was 7:00 pm. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar and ended up being seated by 6:30 pm. So that was great!

The food and service were both excellent. The gin and elderflower drink was very refreshing. The chocolate souffle cake was exceptionally chocolaty, perfect for a chocoholic.

The only drawback to the restaurant is that it is very loud. You can't have a quiet conversation across the table.

“Fantactic Find”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Did not expect to find a restaurant like this in a small town. It is pricy, but deserves to be. Food and service was great.

“Over priced fare”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We dinned at the Common Grille prior to attending a play at the PRT. While the food was just above average, it was way over priced. Sorry guys. You could have done just as well charging $17-$20 for the seafood basil pasta instead of $29. $7 for dessert?...geesh. The noise level was tremendous and was not condusive for a pleasant converstation. Lastly, our waiter (Tom) was tolerable enough, but he sure was a whole lot friendler to the younger, thinner customer sitting next to us. All of these factors combined mean we will not be returning. Too bad...it's a convenient location for dinner prior to the theatre.
