I don't know what the previous reviewers paid for their room but they should keep in mind that if you want luxury, you are going to have to pay for it, especially during the summer in Charlevoix.
It is typical to have to pay over $200 for a weekend night during the summer in Charlevoix. You can get a standard room for $129 on a weekend night here.
We stayed here on a Thursday night, on our way to catch the ferry to Beaver Island in the morning, and paid $79 for the night. For Charlevoix, in August, that is a downright bargain and you can't beat the location. Less than a two minute walk to the shops and restaurants of downtown.
While I have definitely stayed in better places, I have also stayed in worse and there is nothing terribly wrong with this place but it does have its quirks.
I agree that parking would be a problem at this hotel if you are there during a crowded time. The lot is small and is inadequate for the amount of rooms they have on the property. I also agree that the room could use some more lighting and is dated.
As for the shower head, it is situated a little bit lower than in most hotels but the shower head did tilt up and I thought it worked fine.
On the positive side, there was a refrigerator in the room and the lodge does have an elevator that you can use. The person checking me in was also very friendly, helpful, and nice. I could be biased, though, since he was a Michigan State fan.
Overall, I probably wouldn't want to stay here for an extended amount of time but if you are just looking for a reasonably priced place to sleep in Charlevoix for one or two nights, this place will serve your needs.
