Just wanted to concur with the reviewer who posted on 7/23/12, we also commented that these sites are way to crammed together and there are not enough trees to give any privacy. Also the traffic noise at highway speeds behind the campground is audible all night. We were lucky enough to have sites around the outside perimeter which is the only place I'd recommend. The inner strips are packed and not private. A mix of campers, pop ups and tent campers. Lots of well behaved dogs. The bathrooms were very updated and clean. Tiny playground just some swings, not worth mentioning really.
The beach across the street (walkable) is lovely and calm which attracts a lot of kayakers and families. We spent all day at the beach, but bring an umbrella or source of shade. And a table if you want to set up lunch as there is no shade and no picnic tables. No food for sale either that we could find but there is a party store nearby with snacks and ice, etc.
The great beach, and easy 2.5 hr drive from metro Detroit, modern bathrooms/showers, and that it allows dogs, makes this place an attractive choice, but that's about all it has going for it.

Haven't camped here in almost 30 years, but do love the beach area still. The sand is clean and the beach is clean and the water is warm and shallow. The bathrooms are clean as well. Have great childhood memories from Sleeper State Park and love spending time here with my kids as well.

Just camped at Sleeper State this weekend. We had a nice site with lots of trees, but the staff there was more interested in hassling campers who caused no issues, than they are in providing a pleasant camp atmosphere. We parked three cars on our lot, we were not on the road, plenty of space, all on our own site because we had family coming in from different areas, and for this we were threatened with eviction. I will not be camping there again.

Negatives:
Just visited this past weekend, had site 55. It was small and not level. I've been to a lot of Michigan parks, this by far had the least privacy. Things are so tight together they mark the edge of the sites with paint. The only sites that would be worth getting are along the outside ring, but not against the road. On that topic you can hear traffic all the time, it takes away from feeling like you are even camping.

Positives:
Modern bathroom amenities
Nicest Michigan state park beach I've seen
