We spent two days at Caberfae Peaks and loved snowblading there! Not many places offer snowlbade rentals but they do and it was so much better than skiing.

The place isn't that big but we never once had to wait in line at the lifts. The Chili (both beef & chicken) were the absolute BEST ever - highly recommend! The restrooms were large and very clean.

I have read other ski review websites that said Caberfae was "rustic" and outdated but it's been open for decades and everything looked great and well maintained to us. Overall we had a great two days there! We had a blast and would return!

Now to the downside....this stuff was really annoying but not enough to prevent us from returning here in the future.

First, you must stand outside to purchase your lift tickets and rentals at a little shack. The funny thing is - they don't have a computer or cash register there so the staff (looked like young college kids) just used a piece of scrap paper to add up the prices of what you want - the lift and rental prices are all different depending on your age AND the time of day you are there - too confusing for their staff and we were almost overbilled by $34 (we had 4 people in 3 different age groups). I was not overbilled because I had written the prices down from their website onto a piece of paper and had that with me.

The second day was the same thing but this time we had to wait in a very long line at the ticket shack - it took us 1 hr and 20 minutes to get through all the lines!

After you pay at the shack you must go into a different building to get your rentals. Another line to stand in. They do not tell you until you get to the front of the line that you have to go back to a different area of the building to fill out paperwork before returning and standing in line again!

The first day boot rentals were very, very comfortable. The seond day was not and my right boot never did fit correctly.

After you get your boots you must go down the hall and wait in a third line just to get your skis/snowblade/snowboard. We noticed the staff had trouble adjusting the equipment so it took even longer and when they adjusted it wrong, you had to wait at the back of the line again before they'd fix their mistake.

Next to this area is the lessons counter. We booked a snowboarding lesson for 1:30pm and when we showed up they told us they only had ONE instructor available and just gave our 1:30pm time slot away to a group because groups pay more money than private lessons and tried to get me to pay $5 MORE to join a group lesson than it would cost for our private lesson. We passed on this and had to wait 2 hrs for the next private lesson time.

The instructor was very young and inexperienced (he said he has only been teaching for 2 weeks), he rushed from treaching one lesson to another without a break for five hours straight - not good on the management's part (having only one instructor all day).

Our inexperienced instructor advised us not to use any of the safety precautions because he did not use them even though they are required by Caberfae- this was not wise and left us confused on why we shouldn't use the safety gear.

He also spoke very rushed and would forget to teach us certain basic moves and then only remembered he didn't teach us that when we had trouble with the harder moves. It was confusing and frustrating to say the least and we don't feel that we learned much of anything during our lesson, a total waste of money.

But other than that - we truly loved Caberfae peaks! The other thing we liked about it is they let you change your rental equipment once during the day at no extra. So we started out on skis then switched to snowblades the first day. We loved snowblading alot! The second day we started out with snowblades while we were waiting for our snowboard lessons to start then switched to snowboards for the lessons. I wish they would have let us switch back to blades after the lesson but only ONE change is allowed per day. That was ok because we were cold and tired and ready to leave by that time anyway.

I will note that one of their inexperienced staff membered tried to charge us more money to switch to the snowblades on the first day, telling us it costs more to rent snowblades. Luckily I knew the online prices (it is the same for ski, boards, and blades) and told him he was wrong and they are the same price. He then didn't charge us. With this in mind and how the ticket shack did try to overcharge us - please read their website first so you know what you SHOULD be charged and don't believe the total they give you - know for yourself how much you should be paying! Watch the online posted dates also regarding holiday rates - they did try to charge us a holiday/weekend rate on a non-holiday and I had to refer them once again to their website. I think their staff needs better training!

Also look on their website under "cool deals" they had an internet coupon we used our second day which was "buy 1 lift ticket, get 2 more for free" - great deal! Saved us $69!

The staff was not the best as far as knowing what to charge, how to properly fit us with rental euipment or provide us with decent lessons. But besides this - we still had an awesome time! Even with the long line at the ticket shack on the seond day, we didn't have to wait in line at the lifts, loved their snow (they had 95.5" when we were there) and their chili is the BEST! It was just so much fun being out there on the slopes!

They do allow you to bring in your own food - coolers, picnic baskets and crockpots took up every table in the lower lodge. We did not like this as people just set their stuff up and claimed a table for the day even though they were not using it at the time but were out skiing - so half us us had to stand up to eat as the other tables were full of people's stuff with no people using them! I don't know why they would allow this - they sure loose a lot of business they could be making by selling food instead of allowing people to bring their own food in. That just didn't make much sense.

But still we had a great time skiing/snowblading the two days we were there and would like to go back someday!
