I have to go to Cadillac for work once about every quarter. On one of my recent trips up there, a couple of colleagues asked me to join them for lunch here. I was not disappointed.
It is actually more than a restaurant. It has the main dining area, along with a deli and a butcher shop. The deli and the main dining area share a menu.
I enjoyed this restaurant so much that I just recently dined there again. On both occasions, the staff was friendly and offered recommendations. There is a wide array of sandwiches, burgers, etc. But the place is known for its Austrian/German cuisine. While I have yet to try the European fare (which I have heard is excellent), I can attest to the lunch menu. I had a Chicken Gyro on one visit and the Hermann Burger on the other. I think one of the best offerings is their Sandwich and Soup Combo. It allows you access to the soup bar. I have to say that I have not found a better cream of mushroom soup than at this place. The creamy butternut squash is also fantastic. All of Chef Hermann's soups are homemade recipes. And you can tell when you taste them. I think the restaurant offers a very nice variet on menu items, and the prices are very reasonable given the quality of food.
Chef Hermann can also be seen in and around the dining area. He is very personable and you can tell he loves what he does because it shows in the food. Great spot. Give it a try!
