Booked several family members for a wedding and were not pleased. Hotel reeks of smoke from the lobby and it had a generally "unclean" feel.
We wish we'd have booked our friends and relatives at a hotel in nearby Adrian or even Chelsea. We will next time.
When we sent our comments in to via questionairre. all we got back was a note from the manager that we'd get 20% off a future stay. Gee, thanks.
We stayed at the Super 8 in Brooklyn, Michigan, one night following a family wedding. If you're in Brooklyn, it's very easy to get to the hotel. The outside looks very nice, and the inside supported that impression.
The lobby is small but nice and clean, with new furniture. There is a small lounge area for watching a TV. The breakfast nook, which couldn't seat more than 10 or 12, was just beyond that. Breakfast seemed sparse -- two kinds of cereal with milk, and a selection of donuts and pastries. They did have French toast that could be warmed in the microwave. As others have said, the coffee and juice were available 24/7. If all you want is a quick continental breakfast, this should be fine.
Our biggest surprise was the room. With two teenagers -- a boy and girl -- we paid the $10 upcharge to get queen beds instead of full. That was worth it. The beds were nice; the pillows, as others have noted, were not remarkable. But what was really nice was the size of the room. It was large. With two queen beds, it did not feel cramped, AT ALL. The bathroom also was very nice, and looked newly tiled. The shower was a very clean unit; the showerhead had a delightful variety of sprays.
We saw LOTS of dogs being walked the next morning, all from hotel guests, and we had no idea there were dogs in the hotel. In addition, things were very quiet. There was a wedding reception in the one banquet hall they had, so there was a party going on, but it did not spill out into the hallways. Perhaps the large signs posted prominently, reminding guests to keep quiet, really worked in this hotel!
The only real disadvantage? The vanity was in the room, not in the bathroom. If you want to get up early and use the sink, there's just no hiding the light you'll need or the noise you'll make. But this is, after all, a budget hotel, and that's a small price to pay.
If you're in the SE Michigan area, there aren't many hotel options. This is certainly a nice one to have.
This place was just fine for the middle of nowhere. Wireless internet did NOT work. Pretty clean...ok stay. I did not expect much and did not get much...but for $69/night, that is fine. No gym which bummed me out.
My husband and I stayed here for about a week and a half. It was clean and had excellent staff. Good location. The beds were a little uncomfortable, and so were the pillows. But the shower was really nice, and wireless internet worked well.
It had a VERY nice handicap room.
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was better than most Super 8 breakfasts. Entire property seemed well kept, and we wouldn't have a problem recommending this to anyone or staying here again. Only a mile or two down the road from MIS.
Stayed here for a few days early in January 2006. Spacious room with comfy bed. The pillows were, however, of the pancake foam design. Nifty little breakfast area downstairs where I could get coffee and hot water all night or use the microwave. They had cereal and pastry in the morning. It is next door to a supermarket, Burger King and Bob's Big Boy (which I didn't know still existed). The front desk clerks were really nice, I had a small dog with me and they were very nice about her and didn't balk when I asked for an extra sheet to spread across the bed since she sleeps on it with me. Housekeeping was very accomodating as well. Since this was the only motel in town they could have been operating a dump and gotten away with it. I was pleasantly surprised.
No elevator but only two floors. All interior corridors and good security.
