“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

We discovered Morels last month thanks to a friend and have made the fifty plus mile drive twice since. I have a difficult food allergy that the chef has been incredibly creative about accommodating. After a friendly personal consultation he has created sauces for the duck and twice fish that were perfect. My dining companions were equally pleased. The dining room could use bigger windows and some sound deadening but we have not been disturbed by the friendly conversation at the other tables. If one is bothered by sound request one of the deep quiet booths.

“Mixed Bag”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

Ordered the mushroom soup and the mushroom encrusted walleye. The soup was not what I expected at all. I prefer a cream based mushroom soup but though I would give this one a try. It was basically some standard mushrooms floating in some beef bullion based water. Pretty weak soup. Unfortunately the walleye had a fishy taste to some of the bites - which is something fresh walleye should never have. I would not recommend either of these menu items. I did have. Bite if my wife's blue cheese filet and it was very good. Ambience of the place is very nice.

“Very, very good chef!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013 via mobile

Beet salad was delicious. Wife had filet migon and it was like butter. My perch was lightly pan fried with wild rice. Good wine list and the service extremely attentive.
Only slight negative was the noise level. With the angled ceiling other tables conversations bounce around the room, as does yours. Sound dreading drapes would help!

“A rare gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

This charming restaurant located just outside Boyne City is a real find. The chef and owner came to our table to congratulate us on our anniversary and tell us about his restaurant. We were not disappointed. Every dish was personalized with some very amazing sauces, which at our request were served on the side. Especially his steak sauce and the sauce on the Alaskan Salmon. The serving staff was personable, prompt and knowledgeable. This could be one of the top restaurants in the Lake Charlevoix area. Put the on your list!
