“Wonderful small science museum”

Cranbrook Institute of Science
Reviewed January 14, 2013

This small science museum is wonderful. Exhibits are varied and well displayed and clearly and simply labelled. The geomorphology section was particularly interesting and featured a huge revolving globe. We saw the Michigan Sky at Night show at the planetarium which was well presented and informative. The museum is great for all ages, lots of hands on exhibits for young children and special shows at the planetarium for kids. The cafe is basic but does good coffee and grilled cheese sandwiches. Will be returning.

The Cranbrook Institute of Science is a gem right here in Oakland County! Make sure to check the schedule for the great planetarium shows and make time to visit the bat exhibit and see the baby vampire bats and a few species of sloth too! Great hands on activities through out the museum and an amazing day of fun-filled learning for the entire family!

Lots of hands on activity for children (or the childlike adult).I especially love the Gems and Minerals exhibit. It's amazing how many different species there are and makes you want to go out and hunt rocks........maybe finding something awesome like a Meteorite.
The Planetarium show was interesting and the guide added some humor making it fun.Don't miss out on this great science center.
