The best places are hard to find! Cafe Via is my favorite place to savor a nice glass of wine and an awesome conversation with a friend. There are multiple looks to this place, so make sure you investigate the whoe space before you leave. Love the outdoor fireplace, seating, and general ambiance. The service is always friendly and attentive, but not obnoxious. Elegant but not pretentious... Wish I could go more often....

Great food, great service. Tucked in a back alley behind some buildings in downtown Birmingham is Cafe Via. Great menu choices and well prepared food. There are several rooms to dine in if you don't sit in the open air area that feels like a Euro cafe. One is a floral cutting room, one is like a library lounge, and one is like fine dining room. Then there is the bar area where at 5 o'clock, you will see "the usual suspects" just about daily ready to engage in conversation.

This downtown Birmingham cafe has limited seating but this means that the noise level is low. The tables are dispersed so that the floor-plan consists of a series of semi-private rooms. Excellent food well put together at a reasonable price. Very elegant surroundings. Parking is either on the street or in a structure. . Outdoor seating even in winter (heaters) but we decided to hold off until Spring.

I go to Cafe Via everytime I'm in town. We always request Sharon's section. She takes such good care of us, giving honest opinions of our choices, and suggesting great wines by the glass to go with our meals. The restaurant has many small rooms decorated and furnished beautifully. Maybe six tables in each. I've never dined outside but it looks great. I've never been disappointed.

We sat in the courtyard enjoying the view of the fire and everything we ordered was delicious. The restaurant was recommended by friends and they were so right that we would enjoy our dinner there. Great choice!
