“Always Enjoyable”

My partner and have had lunch at the Blue Cow twice now. We enjoyed the whole experience both times. The food and the service were excellent each time.

“Fine Dining in Big Rapids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

Our first visit and it was wonderful. Escargot and a glass of Red to start, a Medium Rare Beef Filet with a Blue Cheese sauce as an entrée and a shared Gelato with coffee to finish. Great service and good food, a great combination.

“Quite the find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2014

My husband & I are always looking for a good restaurant when we are traveling as we don't have too many in our area of northern Michigan. We spotted their billboard on the way back from the tulip festival. We felt a little out of place when we stepped in as we were wearing traveling clothes.
White linen tablecloths, very nice ambiance, men in ties. Monday lunch. We had to try a steak because of the farm to table sign. You would think it was pricey, however you can't find a 16 oz. steak from Texas that just melts in your mouth & tastes like heaven. I had the greek salad & the asparagus soup. The asparagus aroma was as amazing as the taste. Our waitress was Elizabeth. They train their staff amazingly. When I walk in a restaurant the tip starts at 20 % & goes down at just about every move. Hers went up. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

“Hit and miss but overall very good.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014

The specialty (alcoholic) drinks were fantastic. My filet was great but the prime rib had a strange preparation; it almost seemed like it was finished off or reheated in the microwave. The side dishes were unique and tasty (some sort of potato-y lasagna type thing and a delicious baked squash). One of us had the filet with crab. The description on the menu made us think it would be a filet with crab, like a surf-and-turf (which, for the price, should have been), but it was instead this crab and sauce mix on top of the steak, so like a steak oscar. And it was disgusting and basically wrecked the steak.

It wasn't the best meal ever, but it probably is the best meal in Big Rapids.

Server was great, bubbly and friendly and familiar.

“Our favorite local restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014

Blue Cow Cafe is a rare gem in this part of Michigan. It's a beautiful restaurant in a charming downtown area. The staff is always friendly, and we've been enough they recognize us (and remember our usual orders). The wine is reasonably priced with a good selection. And the food is delicious. I generally get the champagne chicken, made gluten free - it's so tender and exquisite, and the accompanying risotto is perfection. Our family has various allergies/dietary needs, and we all eat well at Blue Cow. We're so grateful this restaurant exists, and so enjoy our time there.
