Went today to the Bayou Grill in Belleville, Mi. The outside is very beautiful and the alligator on the roof is a real attention getter. The entire area is very clean and welcoming. Inside the decor is somewhat lacking, We were the only diners. Men at the bar were loud, but not excessively so that we were annoyed. Keno is advertised there, we play keno, but none of the TVs were turned on, so we decided to save our money and not ask for them to be turned on.
We had the jambalaya, which was very good. One suggestion would be to take the skin off the sausage before adding it to the jambalaya as it was a bit tough. We were served a big bowl of jambalaya, period. No bread, no salad, no water, nothing but this big bowl of very good jambalaya.
We will go back because they had an excellent menu, but we felt we should have gotten something to compliment the meal, specially for $15 a bowl. I had to flag down our server to ask about desert and was told we have one of this left and one of that left and one of the other....not wanting the left overs that might be not as fresh, we declined. All in all the food is the star here and it was excellent. Everything else needs a bit more attention.
