“Good family fun! Nice European atmosphere.”

Nice ski area, super instructors. We went over Christmas and had a ball. The hills, are steeper than I thought they would be, not long, but fun. The lodge could use more food options. Actually, they could spread out the eating options. If there is good snow, you should have a fun time.

“A classic northern Michigan golf and ski resort”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

At the older original Shanty Creek Lodge (Now called the Summit) where we stayed ,it had very accommodating staff, wonderful views from the lodge dining room and some condo's. Ski hill is a little tame but the sister ski hill, Schuss Mt (together they are Shanty Creek RESORT) has black diamond trails. I think it originally opened in the 1960's and the architecture reflects that period but its well maintained.

“Great Golf Weekend!!!”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Went to Shanty Creek with a group of four for a boys golf weekend in mid September. The Legend, Schuss and Cedar River were in immaculate shape and provided an excellent challenge for all handicaps. We played 5 rounds in 2 and 1/2 days and wish we could have stayed and played for even more.
The proximity of the well-equipped condo to the dining, pool and first tee at The Legend cannot be beat!
The shuttle bus allowed us to arrive, park and forget about our vehicle until we left. Nothing better than a shuttle ride into Bellaire and back to your condo...all arranged with a simple phone call.
Each and every staff member was cheerful, helpful and greeted you with a smile. They all seemed happy to see us and glad that we came to Shanty Creek...many other resorts could take a customer service class from anyone on the Shanty Creek staff!
Kudos to Steve in booking for arranging such an excellent package. Our price was unbelievable. Coupled with the great golf, exceptional accomodations, awesome food and excellent staff our group will surely return.

“If you love golf you'll love this place.”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed in Ridgewalk (a1 bedroom timeshare unit) so I'm not sure how the hotel rooms are. Our unit was clean and seemingly redone/update within the last year or two. So to us it was great. Kitchen was good, new flat screen tv etc. etc. We were there for the 4th of July week so we watched a pretty large fireworks display basically blowing off over our condo. Nice!

Restaurants in the hotel and around the hotel (on their grounds) are all decent. But to us, it was the golf. Four excellent golf courses ranging in green fees from $14 to $90. Full real courses w/carts. Two of the courses are world class. Stunning. The other two are definitely good too. All were immaculately kept. Like playing off carpet. We played every one. Twilight rates for the Legend.... $30. Amazing deal. We also played The Chief (just outside the entrance to Shanty Creek). It too was good but not as well kept. However, their restaurant at 'The Chief" was terrific. Low prices, good food, and always always always packed with people.

It's funny. I bought the timeshare 4 or 5 years ago on Ebay and never went there. Finally this year we went with no expectations at all. Maybe even low ones. Our take away was that we're making a point of coming up every year from here on. And we have many many timeshares and have literally visited well over a hundred different ones over the years. It's a great place.

If you're not a golfer....then....you may be bored out of your mind. Not a lot to do and nothing really around it for 40-50 miles (although Mackinac Island isn't that far and that's a destination in itself that shouldn't be missed). For winter, it looks like the place would be equally great if you ski.
