HUGE sandwiches, one is big enough for two people. Located near the river and has small eating area inside and outside, too.

The Wanigan is by far my family's FAVORITE place to eat! We love everything there...the food, atmosphere, and friendliness of the staff. My husband loves the Club sandwich and the California Dreamin and I have to say that the Fran's Fowl Weather Friend is my favorite but I also love the Pelly's Sub not to mention they also have the most tasty soups and salads. It is a great convience to be able to call in our order and have it ready when we get there. BIG THANKS FOR GREAT FOOD & GREAT SERVICE EVERYTIME!!!!!

We stopped at the Wanigan for lunch. There is a wide variety of sandwiches listed on several boards, lots of specials, soups and salads. You order at the deli counter, and then they bring your food out to your table. The dining room is very bland and utilitarian, with standard metal stacking chairs and plain tables. The best thing is the view: they have a wall of windows overlooking a park and then the river. In warmer weather, they have a screened dining porch and deck.

They have some local logging memorabilia on the walls. On a historical note, Bay City was a huge logging mill town, and a "wanigan" was a floating raft that had a kitchen and served the mill workers and others along the river.

The sandwiches were good and very tasty. The sides were disappointing. I had peas and peanuts, and they had a very "plastic" or chemical odor and taste - like they had been stored for a long time in a plastic container. Didn't eat much of those! The soup was just OK, more like something from a can.

So overall, I can think of better lunch spots in Bay City, except for the river view and outdoor dining in the summer.

Food here is only average. I had the Reuben and it had no flavor at all. This restaurant relies heavily on filling the customer up with bread. Very little meat/filling inside the sandwich. On the bright side, the tomato soup was very good. Probably will not return.
