“Pretty nice smaller zoo”
Reviewed May 26, 2010

This is a pretty nice zoo for kids. Our kids really loved feeding the giraffes in Wild Africa. They have gone to a lot of work to create two huge walking trails and animal habitats. They also have a carousel, a train, and kids' zoo, all of which were very nice. It wasn't very busy when we were there, especially considering it was a Saturday. They have some nice picnic areas outside of the zoo, only complaint is that we wished it had been closer to the zoo entrance. The staff was friendly and the facilities were clean and well maintained. No lions and tigers and bears at this zoo - but the kids had so much fun they didn't notice at all. The price is a bit steep to get in, but they are a 50% off reciprocal zoo, which helps a lot! Stroller use is free, too!

“A pretty nice zoo...”
Reviewed September 26, 2009

We spent a very hot afternoon walking around this medium sized zoo. We enjoyed seeing the African Safari section, lots of interesting animals, with a long boardwalk built up high for good viewing. Lots of trees and shade in this zoo-almost too much. However, once you have visited the African section, it gets quite boring. Seems like most of the money has been spent here and the rest of the zoo left to wither a bit. Many animals either were not out or were not on display. Train ride is a joke for the money. And the entrance fee is too high, in my opinion. Go to the Detroit Zoo, where you get much more for your buck. Parking is good; bathrooms hard to find; food available in quite a few spots. Workers unfriendly for the large part. :(

“The best!”
Reviewed March 12, 2008

Ok, so I am really critical of zoos - it takes a LOT to entertain me. I am the kind of person who wants to see the lions walking around, not just their paw sticking out of their den. They have enough animals here to make sure you stay interested. The best thing, in my opinion, is that they have descriptions of where the animals came from. They weren't just captured from the wild, they were rescued. I always found it sad to think that the animals could be in their natural habitat instead, but the animals there wouldn't survive there. The giraffes are especially cool - you can feed them (just be careful of their long, ugly, sticky tongues. Sometimes they miss the food and grab your fingers for a second - icky spit! I really would recommend this place to young and old. OH - something fun to know is that the gorillas there speak sign language. One asked me for food when I was there (he had food right in front of him, keep in mind). It was pretty cool - and I am sure most people don't know that! Learn some basic sign language that gorillas might need to know and talk to them!

“Wonderful Zoo”
Reviewed February 5, 2008

I was born in Michigan and have been to this zoo several times. Its a very big, lush and beautiful zoo. The animals are really well taken care of and people are very friendly there. The africa part of the zoo is really something to see as well and enjoy. There is a great deal of woods and shade for those who are not comfortable with the heat but overall its a really neat zoo to see.
