Review of Binder Park Zoo

Binder Park Zoo

This is one of the best zoos in the country. By acreage it is the 7th largest zoo in the country. They have some great animals and a new bear enclosure is opening in 2014. They a train ride and a carousel. They don't "cage" their animals like other zoos and give them a lot of space. You can also feed Giraffes and Pygmy goats. They also have a swamp walk attraction, where you can walk through a large swamp. You can ride a tram to "Africa" and see giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and other native African animals. The zoo is constantly expanding and adding exhibits. This is my favorite zoo, ever.

My whole family was surprised by the size of the zoo. Definitely worth the trip and it is probably the best family place in BC. Feeding giraffes was very fun, although the feed was costly

This is a nice zoo! Offers alot of animals to see and pet. Nice, well-kept grounds! Very informative. The only thing I may say, is if you do not want to do alot of walking, in Wild Africa, after you feed the giraffe, turn back around instead of going ahead. Usually not much to see as far as the animals. They are at a far, or not at all. Little ones may get bored. Definitely, could take all day if you read the signs at all the exhibits and go inside the different attractions.

My wife is from Zimbabwe. The Wild Africa exhibit at this zoo is so very much like Hwange Park in Zimbabwe that we really could not see differences. The wildlife views match those in Hwange. And when we walk the trail through Wild Africa we feel we are in Zimbabwe. It is an incredible exhibit. But the zoo also has many other fine exhibits. The red panda exhibit is great. So is the snow leopard exhibit. The zoo has many education programs both for visitors and for area schools. There are also live shows performed with the animals that children and adults alike will enjoy.

We have been going there for years. Now that we have grandchildren, we go more often. The kids love the giraffes. They are so close when feeding them, you can pet them. Wild Africa is the favorite of the kids, but surprisingly enough, they enjoy the birds almost as much. Well worth the visit..
