“Top Quality Room”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

The room was nicely furnished and very comfortable. No tub, but the walk in shower was nice. Nice to stay in a place where everything works right. The bed was very comfortable. The registration staff was very friendly, although they didn't have authority to do any upgrades or special perks. I guess I'm not a high roller! Location is convenient, right off the I-94.

Very nice hotel, quite roomy, and everything is so wonderfully new!
I love the fact that a guard is on duty verifying you are actually staying there, before you are allowed on the elevator.
They also have a pool and sauna, that close at 9:00.
The pillows on the other hand are not at all comfortable.
Smoking is banned in the rooms, and you have quite a ways to walk to be able to smoke. I only wish there were balconies off the rooms, to avoid all the walking.
Reservations are hard to come by, so book early. We booked at least three weeks ahead of time, when checking in, we STILL had to wait forty-five minutes until the room was ready.
The buffet is pretty good, and they are constantly refilling the trays, and the food is very hot. I do, however, find it quite pricey. Sunday's buffet is $24.99.
The staff is excellent, and our maid was super friendly. You have the option of refusing maid service if you will be there for a couple of days.
My biggest complaint about this whole place is the parking. You cannot bring your luggage through the casino, so you park on the hotel side. There is a ton of parking, but again, it is so far away from the lobby doors! Very poorly designed, and a lot of wasted space. It should have been designed so that you could pull up right next to the building. Sure, they offer free valet service, but that is never the case! Tips are expected everywhere!
If you get emails regarding being entitled to a comped room, take it! These rooms are $159.99 per night! You are only allowed one night per week, so go on a Sunday and Monday, that way you can stay two consecutive nights.
Even if they comp your room, you STILL pay, if playing the slots, because their payouts are terrible, since the addition of the hotel rooms.

Room Tip: The rooms are very quiet, therefore, any room is good, but be prepared for the long hallways. It wo...

Hi SuePillon--Sounds like you enjoyed your stay, pillows and distance to smoke aside. The Sunday, all-day Surf & Turf special at Mijem Buffet offers guests a great deal--for who enjoy their prime rib (and other fine cuts of steak) to be accompanied by crab legs, shrimp, fresh fish together with Asian, Italian and American favorites--all you can eat, too!
Valet is always an option to park curbside. Finally, our slot payouts have not changed since the hotel was opened. In fact, if you check out our facebook webpage, you'll see just a few of the daily jackpot winners posted there. Hope you return soon and win some cash at the casino!

The room was really nice. We were given a special rate that was offered to those who signed up for e-mails/advertisements from the hotel. If you do this, jump on the deal - first come, first served. The hotel was had a good feel to it and certainly surpassed any other lodging in the area that we saw. I'm not much of a gambler, but there were a good number of conference and meeting rooms available for those looking for a good spot between Detroit and Chicago for big meetings or other functions. Next time we'll explore more of the local area to add to the experience.

Room Tip: The buffet was a good buy. It had a nice variety.

Hotel is very nice. Spacious, well-appointed room that reminded me of a Marriott/Renaissance property. Very clean with huge bathrooms, soft beds, refrigerator, etc. Another positive was the staff. Very friendly associates...always saying hello, asking if you need anything. Also, the food at Fire and Smoke was outstanding and very affordable. The hotel is really very nice.

The casino, on the other hand. Well, lets just say they have the TIGHTEST slots I have ever seen. Obviously, they don't have to pay out much, as it's not like you can walk to another casino. Perhaps I just caught a run of bad luck, but they were the worst-paying I have ever played.

So, if you're looking for a GREAT hotel in Battle Creek, this is it. I suppose if you play table games it could also be a nice casino experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor to avoid the view of the A/C and heating ducts I had on the 2nd floor.

We came in on a Sunday for a two day visit and found some of the eating/bar options closed for both days. The casino gambling options are very extensive and the service on the floor was good. The hotel room was a basic room and it was more than satisfactory. The overall experience was very good and worth the drive from Northwest Indiana.

The hotel lobby as you walk in assaults you with cigarette smoke. Surprisingly the no smoking gambling section was right next to the lobby so I was surprised by the poor air quality. The room was very clean and new with no smells at all. We could hear someone else in their bathroom through the air exchanger...not cool. The in room coffee was great, too. If you like casinos, I'm sure the hotel here is one of the nicest.
The pool had a lot of chlorine and the work out room was really disappointing. The restaurants, however were fabulous with delicious dishes in generous portions.

Hi rainbowcabin--Glad you found our Hotel comfy. We are surprised you found the casino smoky with our state-of-the-art air exchange system composed of 5,000 air vents to circulate and remove all odors--the best in the industry. We are sorry the workout room was disappointing but happy to learn you enjoyed our great restaurants.

We were excited to visit this new property. The casino has been open for four years and finally the hotel opened a few months ago. 260 rooms and suites on 8 floors. Spacious lobby. Check-in isn't until 4PM which is too late. We showed up at 3PM and although there were plenty of rooms available, they made us wait.

The rooms are Holiday Inn Express quality with low end amenities, pillows and shower head. Coffee maker and coffee is so bad, bring your own.

There is a pool albeit only 3' deep and not good for lap swimming. The pool area has a large whirlpool, steam and sauna. But only a few lounge chairs so tough to relax. No changing room, showers or spa.

The fitness center has 5 machines and no weights. It is an embarrassment.

The hotel restaurant Smokin' Fire looks right out of 70's and the comfort level is about the same. We opted for breakfast (how bad can that be?) and it is pretty bad. The second day we left the hotel for breakfast (Pancake House in Battle Creek). It is like the architect and designers got together and said "How uncomfortable can we make this for our guests?"

The casino is top notch and features Nibi, their upscale restaurant and lounge. This is the highlight of the property. The buffet and food court are way too small and the buffet is not open for breakfast. No live entertainment although there is a conference center that features top acts on a monthly basis. There is a cabaret but did not visit.

No doubt this could be a four-star resort but for now, it's an upscale Quality Inn. Let's see if management listens to its guests and makes the necessary improvements.

Room Tip: Ask for one closest to the elevator as the hallways tend to be long.

Hi LGSpartan--We're sorry to learn about your disappointment with our hotel. We feel the sparkling reviews we generally receive on Trip Advisor and elsewhere indicate most guests genuinely appreciate our comfortable rooms and outstanding service. We are glad you favored the casino and hope you return to give the hotel another look in the future.
