“Best of the Best”
Reviewed May 12, 2008

Excellent place to stay. Treated first class. Room was clean, friendly staff and very quiet. Priced right. If you are heading to the UP, this is the place to stay hands down. Don't forget to get breakfast, under the same roof at the Press Box restraunt. Very tasty and great quality food, at affordable prices.

Stayed at the Ojibwa hotel/casino for our anual snowmobile trip. The rate was reasonable, $55 night, plus they give you $5 cash back each night with players card, and free drink coupons each day.
The room was nothing fancy, but spacious and clean. Plenty of HOT water made for a nice bath after hours on their great snowmobile trails. Ice machine worked great, and there was a vending machine and microwave for popcorn in the hall. Staff was super friendly, and seemed to appreciate our business. They used the regular keys, not computerized key cards, which I prefered because my cell phone seems to de-activate the key cards.
Casino was small but lots of fun. I won often on their slot machines! Table games like blackjack and roulette were also available. The bar had 24 oz. beers for $2 on thursday. They also had a bowling alley and lounge with live music on weekends.
I would definately recommend the Ojibwa if you are looking for a bargain good time!

We decided to stay at the Casino as the Best Western was full and the casino would be fun. Well, the casino was fun, but not the hotel room. The hotel has been hastily constructed and has wooden floors that are not sound absorbing. The hotel is noisy as you can hear what's going on next door as well as upstairs. The room was large, but the bed not comfortable and had a plastic cover on the mattress under the bottom sheet causing the bottom sheet to slip and slide and for us to overheat. Also, the mattress was pretty sagged out. There was no breakfast, but there was coffee available in the lobby. Vertical blinds were OK but not room darkening and it was really bright, really early in the morning. I would not recommend this unless it is the only thing available. By the way, the Super 8 across the street is now a "no-name" motel...the signs have been blacked out.

There is always someone out there that can give a business (in this case, the Ojibwa Casino Resort in Baraga) a negative review based solely on personal nitpicking. Seems to me she should have confirmed the elevator issue or at least asked if her room could have been on first floor at time of booking?

We stayed at the Casino in February for 5 consecutive years. We are snowmobile enthusiasts. If you enjoy casinos and snowmobiling there is nothing greater than a stay at this location. You spend ALL day travelling their AWESOME trails. A trip to Copper Harbour and back is about 200 miles. Or you can travel to Big Bay north of Ishpeming and stop for dinner at Mt Shasta Restaurant in Michigamee. You can cross the lake to Lanse and enjoy a drink and food. You can have a nice dinner at the Best West Ramada in Baraga.

But best of all is at the end of the day, when you are back in your room, freshen up, have a nice meal at the Bearden Rest (Casino) and from there you can enjoy the Casino all night long.

There is no elevator (why, for 2 floors???) and the accommodations are just fine thank you very much. They have standard rooms, suites and Kings suites that are huge w/jacuzzi. Beautiful pool and sauna and gift shop.

Over the years we were there they expanded the casino the size of a hangar. And lets not forget the bowling alley in the same complex. They also have a bingo hall adjacent to their main bldg.

We stopped going in 1997 due to business reasons. (we are self employed). Now we intend to start again next Feb and looking forward to it.

In closing I say to Gloria....get a life! and do your homework next time you book at any location. Don't blame others for your acrimony.
Shame on you.

WE have traveled to this area for yearsand have enjoyed the area and the nearby attractions, copper harbor. lake of the clouds etc, in earlier times we stayed at the beautiful state park. now however we are older and look for handier accomodations, and enjoy the casino. this was a first time to stay at the motel and frankly were disappointed! the rooms were clean and nicely furnished however.. I have COPD(breathing disorder). there was no elevator and our room was on the second floor. I actuslly had to go up the stairs on my hands and knees!! if there was an elevator we could not find it!Yet all in all we enjoyed our trip and will no doubt return another time! Gloria
