I can't say enough nice things about this place. Rooms are large and most of the other places[motels] are small, outdated, dirty, unfriendly, etc.
They even have more things they offer than anyone else.
Nice Hot Tub and tons of breadfast items, even Bagels & cream cheese.
My favorite thing is sitting on the swing down by the River.

My husband and I and our two dogs planned a road trip in Michigan for Memorial weekend in May. We wanted to start our trip in a place close to home and where we could walk our dogs in the early morning and evening. This place was perfect. Not only did the dogs love it, but the owner told me where she walked every morning and hinted it was quiet and there would be no traffic -- it turned out to be a nature walk down to the river's edge. They gave us advice on where to eat: again, just right. We had a wonderful start to our trip north -- in fact we hope to do the trip again on the east side of the state, starting, once again, at the Red Moose. If you are looking for a place that's quiet, peaceful, different, clean, friendly, and priced right, the Red Moose is just right!

We have stayed at the Red Moose Lodge in Baldwin many times over the past year and have always had great accommodations. The owners, Debi & Curt, are fabulous. . . Curt is a fishing guide too. Debi has put great attention to the small details and the place shows it.
There is a nice variety of accommodations with the rooms, so whether we are traveling alone, with our spouse or with our adult sized teenage boys, it has suit us well.
They are located right on the river and are set up well for the fisherman. A hot tub, community space with movies to borrow and breakfast in the morning make it the best place to stay. The rooms have always been clean and comfortable. I can think of only one negative that is minor overall: the rooms have plug in deodorizers that leave the rooms smelling strongly. We have to remove that and air out the room.
This is truly a great place to stay in the Baldwin area!

It is just the greatest place to go and relax by yourself or with a family. First off, you have got to just go and visit the web site at www.redmooselodge.com but that doesn't even do this place justice. Loved the Hot Tub & Deluxe Continential Breakfast.
We went over to Ludington to Lake Michigan Beach....Beautiful. Saw Lighthouses, went fishing off the peer & shopped. It was only a 35 minute drive. The next day we went Cherry picking up near Traverse City & saw some more Lighthouses. Then we went Sand Dune riding in a Jeep. There are winerys, Casinos nearby & Michigan Adventure Amusement Park which is a waterpark also. Next door is Shrine of the Pines and across the Highway is Baldwin Canoe, Kayak, Raft & Tub Rental which was very handy.
At night we had a fire going with roasting marshmellows, hot dogs, etc. Sang songs and told stories with other visitors.
The rooms are hugh and have Wi-Fi, coke machine, TV with VHS & CD, free video library, free US long distance since our cell phones didn't work up there. It was only an hour and half drive from Grand Rapids due North on M-37. We ordered in Pizza one night and it was GREAT.
They have a cabin also that is 2 bedroom with full kitchen so we might get that next time. Clint took us over to see it and it is surrounded by Super Tall Pine trees & boy was it clean and neat. Log beds so it will sleep everyone. Kids want to sleep on the top bunk.
Golf course is right down the road and airport is in the other direction. Guess they even had a Jet fly in there besides normal planes last fall.
Fall.........the leaves are beautiful up there in late October and early Nov.
Clint took us out fishing in his Drift boat for Salmon and we caught them!! Boy was that fun plus I caught a Pike. He also has a Jet Sled so he take take customers on the Manistee, White, Muskegon & Lower Pere Marquette during Steelhead, early & late Salmon season. There were lots of trout fly fishing guys who just walk in all up and down the Pere Marquette.
In the Lodge Center he has a Black Bear, turkey & Carbou up on the wall that he got hunting......it makes the decor of the room look so homey. One nice thing about the Lodge Center is being able to use it all hours of the day for meals like our pizza plus play games or cards out there. The extra bathroom came in handy while were were watching a movie with our friends. They also have a Weber Grill that everyone can use plus the toaster over, microwave so that you can fix an entire meal there. One of their rooms is a Kitchenette room with 2 burner stove & small ref. It has 2 full beds & bunk bed.
I also forgot......... Pets are welcome there and that is a Major attaction there. Debi had her little dog, Rose, she was so cute. To find a place that actually loves dogs is hard to find sometime. They don't even charge extra because they believe is cleaning 100% anyway. I forgot to mention how clean the rooms [& whole paved driveway] were Spotless! They have chairs outside that you can sit in that are under the cover porch of the Lodge. The rooms have nice quilts with even Moose, Fish, Dogs or some other print on them. One thing that surprised me was the hand towel in the room was a Moose embroidery print [expensive one not cheap white].
I would recommend this to everyone everywhere as the nicest place we have ever stayed. Give Debi or Clint a phone call at 888-939-6667 because they do about a 90% repeat business and book up early for weekends. I recommend coming through the week when it isn't as crowded. They even have a "Guest Book" in the Lodge Center which has comments from other guests to read. There are people from all over the world that stay there. Germany, Austrilia, England, Japan, China, Mexico, etc. Wow! They are hooked up with C.A.R.E. that is headquarter there.
They have an email address also info@redmooselodge.com and a very small gift shop that has mainly Hats & Stainless Steel coffee mugs.

The BEST! Being right on the PM River is what makes this place so great. You can actually sit on a log swing and watch the trout, salmon, etc. swim by. It is so relaxing and having the Hot Tub year round is a +++.
There conti. Breakfast included: bagels & cream cheese, all kinds of english muffins, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, coffee cakes, OJ, tea, milk, coffee, etc. It was a nice way to start our trip.
Clint was our guide and he has all the skills needed to find all the holes & fish. We netted several.
I highly recommend this warm and friendly place---the rooms are all decorated in log beds with quilts matching the decor.

The Red Moose Lodge has so many ammenities that made my stay very comfortable. I especially enjoyed the continental breakfast. What a great way to end the day in their hot tub and then with a movie from their wide selection of videos that are both free of charge. I almost forgot about the peaceful view of the river while I enjoyed their firepit. My stay there was very enjoyable !
