“Christmas at The Inn at Cape Cod”
Reviewed March 3, 2007

We live in Chicago, but I found myself working in New York for the month of December with two days off for Christmas. My husband drove in to New York from Chicago to join me. Our plan was to drive up to Cape Cod to spend Christmas with an elderly, beloved relative who is in an assisted living residence in South Yarmouth. We longed to stay in a charming inn somewhere nearby. We had no idea as to where to stay, but called another Inn in Yarmouth Port that recommended the Inn at Cape Cod. Luckily for us there was a room available.

The Inn at Cape Cod is absolutely beautiful - in the heart of lovely Yarmouth Port, with charming spacious rooms furnished with period antiques. The holiday atmosphere at the Inn was so inviting, with poinsettias and Christmas decorations brightening the public rooms. We had an amazingly large room with a fireplace and the most beautiful four-poster bed that was so wonderfully comfortable; we could hardly bear to get out of it.

Mike and Helen, the innkeepers, were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were homemade and delicious and a delightful English tea was served at 4:00.

We are looking forward to a return visit and a longer stay.

The majestic columns of the Inn at Cape Cod greet guests upon their visit to the charming town of Yarmouthport, where the restaurants and shops are just a short stroll up the road.
We received a warm welcome from Michael and Helen, the inn keepers, who graciously invited us into the grand foyer of their magnificent Bed & Breakfast. Hospitality comes effortlessly to the British couple. They immediately make you feel at home in their spectacular surroundings. Helen went off to make Earl Grey tea while Mike showed us to our room. The room was elegantly appointed with antiques, a king size four posted bed and gas fireplace. The couple also paid close attention to details, with fresh flowers in the room, bottles of water and Tom's of Maine toothpaste. We then proceeded out to the living room with a roaring fire where Helen had served us our tea and delicious homemade brownies. Breakfast was equally spectacular with Helen's own twist to the wonderful blueberry pancakes and bacon. We were also served fruit, and "rock cakes" a wonderful British treat. Always willing to please, yet not wanting to interfere with your privacy, MIke and Helen were the perfect inn keepers, making for a wonderful weekend. Not only did we discover a fabulous B&B, but we made new friends in the process.

The Inn At Cape Cod, located in the heart of Yarmouth Port, is an ideal place for a familiy reunion, wedding stay or to just get away with someone special and escape a hectic lifestyle. The grand entrance and living room is warm and inviting, but what makes this B&B special is its hosts, MIke and Helen Cassels, who greet you with their peaceful smiles, wonderful English accents and, if you plan it right, a plate of freshly baked cookies.

The Inn at Cape Cod was once the home of Joshua Sears, a wealthy merchant with stories abound. Its Greek Rival architecture and setting is also part of the inn's charm. We could walk to several really good restaurants and we enjoyed a late night stroll back from one place where we met people for drinks on Saturday night. The whole area was lit up with Christmas lights along the main road and it was very romantic.

The reason for our stay was my sister's wedding, which took place in the small chapel located on town land behind the inn and next to a terrific restaurant and function hall. Both the bride and groom's families stayed at the Inn at Cape Cod and we enjoyed waking up to the smells of a full breakfast the day after. Mike and Helen go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy and have everything they need for their stay.

My husband and I plan to return there for our own wedding anniversary next fall as we fell in love with both the Cape Cod Inn and its quaint surroundings.

Visiting the Cape on business, I found the Inn at Cape Cod to be an excellent retreat. The new owners, Helen and Mike Cassels, were perfect hosts, willing to provide for my every need. In point of fact, they even fed me breakfast earlier than usual one morning so that I could be on time for an appointment in another town.

My accommodations in the Far East room were superb: luxurious bedding, exquisite mattress and fresh flowers. Each morning, along with freshly-brewed coffee, Helen served a multi-course breakfast that included fresh fruit, homemade granola, a hot entree and a sweet bread. In addition, the public areas are graciously furnished and provided a perfect setting for a cup of tea with homemade cookies and brownies in the late afternoon.

It would be a pleasure to return to the Inn at Cape Cod, and I am happy to recommend it to anyone who wants to spend some time on the Cape, whether for business or for a getaway.

We spent two restful nights over Thanksgiving in this wonderfully, lovingly restored inn. So pleased to see completely renovated baths, guest rooms and public rooms. New high quality mattresses, bedding and carpeting made everything fresh and airy. No old musty feel typical of old inns.

Our hosts were a delight and spoiled us with refined care and wonderful treats. A truly enthusiasic and caring couple. Hope you have the brownies and stone (British) muffins with your tea or coffee!

Definitely a refreshing experience!
