Located in the basement of a building this cafe reminded me of a 1970's coffee house. The sandwiches and soup I had was fantastic and the staff was caring and attentive. The cost was very reasonable and over all a fantastic find.

We stopped here after reading the reviews (we stayed at the Courtyard down the street). So glad we did! The atmosphere was great. Quiet! It's BYOB, but there was no liquor or wine store between it and the hotel. The spicy peanut soup for an appetizer is a definite! I ordered the Portuguese Fish Stew and it was awesome! Lots of fish, shrimp, and mussels. My husband ordered the fish special (can't remember what), but he loved it as well.

They had a guitar player setting up while we ate, but sadly we finished just as he was starting.

We were staying at the Courtyard Marriott so walked up the road. Breakfasts are a treat and the staff just wonderful. They also do lunch and dinner, but we were out and about visiting the area.

I was in Worcester attending a show this weekend and out for walk on Sunday morning when I just happened by Lucky's Cafe....what a treat! Wonderful environment in the old mill, nice art work on the walls, good background music and an incredible breakfast of fresh vegetables roasted to perfection in an omelet with a side of tasty ham....comfort food to begin the day along with fresh coffee.

Our first visit to Lucky's will be our last. What an awful experience! We were meeting friends for a Friday night dinner after hearing good things about the place. We had a 7:30 reservation. We were a few minutes early and were the first in our party of six arrive. No one greeted or acknowleged us, although the place is tiny and they definitely saw us, The owner and his staff came in and out of the kitchen multiple times, but refused to even acknowlege our presence -- not so much as a "someone will be with you shortly." We stood there 10 minutes trying to get someone's attention. Finally we were seated and then we had to flag the waitress down to order a drink. We had to remind her THREE times before she brought it. We ordered our entrees at 8 p.m. and they never arrived until 9:15! And then, after all that waiting, the food was very run-of-the-mill and lukewarm besides. Not once was their an apology for the wait or an acknowlegement of the poor service. The owner and the staff were unwelcoming and rude. I guess this is an insider establishment where only the regulars get treated with respect and everyone else can go to hell. Good luck with that, "Lucky." Never again.
