The Worcester Art Museum is a relatively small museum that packs a lot in a small space. The collection of works is extraordinary for a small city. Of course it does not compete with the MFA in Boston, but it does a great job for its size. To my mind, the best thing about the museum is its ability to attract and/or assemble unusual special exhibits. Some will appeal more than others, but my experience with them has been nothing short of awesome.
The Art Museum has a terrific lunch cafe if you plan to be there at that time. The food is casual, elegant is its preparation and tastes terrific.
Aside from displaying fine art, the Museum is also home to a rich art education program that includes instruction in photography and Photoshop, painting in its various media, sculpture, cartooning, animation, and more.
